How to pitch my story without looking insane.

Oroboros is a concept I’ve had kicking around in my head for a while. Simply put, it is about a young girl in a magical world discovering a certain magical card that allows her to cast spells, joins a magical guild that explores dungeons aka nightmarish liminal spaces, and adds more cards to her deck. I used to refer to it as “Cardcaptor Sakura x Black Clover”, but hardly any other writer in my age group knows what either of those are. I also came up with “Harry Potter x Backrooms Wiki”, “The Owl House but Hooty is a Memphis Rap Sigil”, and “Lilian Potter if it was written by Go Nagai”.

For some reason, I feel unsatisfied with what I came up with so far.

Yugioh with less Egypt.

I mean you are not wrong…the MC is meant to be Cherokee, her chainsaw sword is even named Uktena! But again this is an obscure reference.

I immediately thought of Yugioh

Okay on a more serious note

When it comes to pitching (i assume you mean an elevator pitch) there different standard approaches at least in film/tv I don’t know if different for novels

these are the two templates ik but obviously ppl don’t always stick to template

Its like this (existing thing) sometimes x this (existing thing) in these ways but it is different in these ways

a logline or a bit longer. Where are they, who are they, what do they want, what is in their way, what is the conflict, why do they need to get it/what is at stake
