I am getting my iron infusions today! Not sure what to expect, but I am doing some research!

Thank you very much!

I think I am more worried about another doctor appointment than this one.

Hopefully it’s nothing to worry about :+1:

Nah, it’s not life-threateningly worries, more like being uncomfortable worries since I’ve never done it before and it would be a first time thing.

We all gotta start somewhere, right?

Yup.

Side Topic: My appointment is on Tuesday and then again Friday. I am super excited to start feeling better and taking things seriously like I should once again. I also desire to be as productive as I should yet need to be in my life.

Tomorrow, I am very nervous about going to this appointment for the first time in a very, very long time!

shivers in slight fear

It’s totally normal to feel nervous the first few times. And I’m sure you’ll do great

Tomorrow is the big day and I am excited!
Why am I excited for an iron and B12 infusion than my earlier appointment today?

Because I am excited to see myself change and get better on a physical and mental health level.

Yup, I am super ready to get this done and over with.
After tomorrow’s appointment, I have another on appointment on a Friday.

My appointment goes up to November 14.
I am curious on how long I will be at the place while getting the infusion.

I went to the appointment earlier.
I was scared for nothing and it was silly.

Thank god, I am a single virgin!

Iron/B12 infusions normally take about 30min - 1hour because they’re fairly straightforward but there are factors (how well you’re handling it physically and mentally, if there are any side effects, how much you get, etc). Since you’re getting more than one thing it might take a bit longer.

The infusions I have to get take 8 hours.

It varies depending on what your getting infused with.

Nah, it’s not silly. You have good reason to be nervous. You never know how these things will go until they happen so now you know all is good

I came back moments ago from my infusion and I am tired.

@alenatenjo: It wasn’t even that long. Just 30 minutes for the iron infusion while the B12 was a supplement injection.

Exactly.

I don’t normally mind shots/injections, but those type of injections seem to hurt me when it goes in the most.

Like when I do blood work, those don’t bother me, but IV injections hurt for some reason and I remember when they did it in my hand and that hurt like a bastard.

Tomorrow (November 3 where I live) is my other appointment for iron infusion.

Speaking from experience, it can take some getting use to. I’m so used to getting needles that it honestly doesn’t bother me when I have to get my IV put in. But yeah, it is weird. Sometimes, getting it in the hand can hurt more than the arm. Other times, it’s the opposite. For me, so long as they don’t put it through a bruise, I’m fine. Those hurt like crazy :joy:

If you don’t already, it helps a lot if you drink water before getting needles put in.

I am back from my iron infusion…sleepy.

Going to do some resting till dinner time.

@alenatenjo: The IV didn’t hurt that much and I got it in the arm again.

Thanks!

I noticed that I am more tired after my iron infusions.

That makes sense. Infusions can take a lot out of your body depending on what you get. My advice is to sleep it off if you’re able, or at least do nothing requiring more energy than watching netflix in bed.

I actually have to take the day off work after mine because I end up sleeping for 12+ hours and a walking stick :joy:

Thanks for the advice.

Another thing that I failed to mention was a year or two ago I had gastric bypass surgery and that could very well play a role in my anemia deficiency.

So, there’s that…

Yeah, that might have something to do with it  You have been mentioning these things to your doctor, right? :eyes:
