I think about one scene in Red Reign so much, it lives rent free in my mind.

Like in my head, this scene is a marvelous combination of bleakness, betrayal, and darkness. I also think about the dialogue being said by each of the important characters. I think a bit about the scenes leading up to that scene, though a little. Yet there is one scene further into the story that I love because in my mind it a beautiful sort of torture. I can’t seem to think about anything else by that one scene that I can do in many ways. I love how insane it looks in my mind.

The thing is certain stories have I have that one scene that I think about so much, two tops if it comes.

The one thing about Red Reign is that one scene where everything comes together and the truth is revealed in such a scary way. That is how it’s been for so long.

I can’t spill the beans about the scene because of spoilers, regardless if the scene has not been written or not. I just think about the emotion of the scene, the fighting, the dialogue between the character, who dies in the midst of it, and the heavy tension and shock that the scene will cause.

This scene is a few books into the series, not the first book of the series. I do think about the prologue, but this one scene is the one that takes place nearing the final books in the series (or close to the final books).

Thoughts and feelings?

Does anyone else have that problem? Because I realize that I need to get through a few books until I can get to that one scene. Plus everything else must happen before that one scene comes. That scene and some small others are the only scene that intrigues me, that one scene more so. I’ve seen so much in my mind that it is a combination of beauty and ugly.

I sound like I am reaching/over exaggerating, but I LOVE THIS SCENE SO MUCH!

Bump.

So you haven’t written this scene yet? If not, then write it now. I know, I know…all the advice gurus say to wait and write everything in chronological order. Yeah, that’s stupid. Learn from my mistakes. You’re feeling the fire now, so write it now. By the time you get around to it later you might not feel that passionately about it since other scenes will have come to mind and moved it off the front burner, so when you finally do write it, it’ll lack the emotion it would have had if you’d written it today. __〆(..)

It’s a good thing that you can remember it and are excited to write it and think that it’s good. But yes, write it now, what Akje says. You can always refine it later, or edit to fit with the rest of the book later.

and @Churro

If I write it first, that will cause the story to become some weird flashback of sorts.

The only way I write it down is if I write it as brain dumping then still write the story the way I have been doing it, chronologically.

Then again, nobody is reading this. Though I am and I am not interested in reading flashbacks, even if it is my own work.

Huh…? It doesn’t have to impact the story at all. I often write scenes in NotePad and just place them in this folder on my computer called “Random Scenes” for when I eventually need to use them. Just title the file something that’ll tell you what’s in the scene so you can find it later when you need it. For now you can just leave it out of your story entirely, but keep the file handy on your computer for when you need it later. ¯\_(ﭢ)_/¯

Ah, I misunderstood.

It’s the same way as taking notes, but just with a scene. I am going to be honest with you because I NEVER IN MY LIFE did that.

That idea always confused me because I never did it.

Still, I do like the idea since I am solely writing for myself and the fact I haven’t touched Red Reign in weeks.
