It would appear that I might end up doing Kindle Vella!

So, I saved my draft for Project Succession, at least for setting things up.

I am still worried because I am still in the first drafting stage of Project Succession, nothing is edited, which sucks because if I am getting paid, I would have to make it presentable enough for people to enjoy it. There is an option to edit it, but I am just concerned and nervous too.

It has been a while since I posted something to share with others. I haven’t shared my writing with people in a very long time. I am serious about doing this, yet I am so nervous about doing it as well.

I don’t want to get too excited, expecting insanely fast results. Still, I am just anxious because I am still on chapter 24 of Project Succession, so much needs to be edited and changed and altered to my liking. I don’t mind posting chapter by chapter to get some type of readership. Posting the whole book isn’t doable for me now. I am nowhere near done, at least with going chapter by chapter, I have time to get some edits in.

I am learning about the site and something is easy to understand, while other information, I am getting there by trying to understand how the site works.

I get paid which also freaks me out, though I am unsure if it is enough to live on, even if I continue pursuing it. I am just starting out, so getting a large enough sum of cash so soon isn’t realistic. I don’t mind working hard to get to a point where I need to, still I need to be realistic.

I am just looking to see if this is my jam, because I am so new to this, yet very nervous about what will happen next.

Any advice worth giving? I am still looking into things as best as I can.

UPDATE: I looked deeper into it.

I am honestly going to have to edit severely first then publish. I am also wondering if I have to hire someone to help me really get things polished.

Yet I am publishing on Kindle Vella, chapter by chapter, so maybe I won’t need a professional, though I still need to really edit the story like it was meant to be. So, I am going to stick with it, yet I know that I need to edit beforehand. I need to put a bit of a halt to chapter 24, to get started on editing or I can continue onward. Then edit chapter by chapter and post it on Kindle Vella.

Yay! I’m glad you decided which way you wanted to go!! Good luck!

Please do edit. You can edit your books yourself, or join critique groups. Scribophile is a free website online that’s geared towards publishing. They might sometimes appear a little harsh, though, so be prepared for that.

To begin with, it won’t be. Most people just do this as a hobby for a bit of extra spending money. Keep working hard and publishing more (edited  ) content, and start building your author brand (whether that’s on social media, your website, TikTok, whatever…!). I believe in you!

I am currently on chapter 24 of Project Succession and the goal is have 35 chapters. So, I do want to post chapter by chapter, i just need to edit it anyway. Should I just start editing now or finish the novel, edit the novel by chapter, the post the edited chapters on Kindle Vella?

Scribophile is a good place to start or what are you getting at?

I would say start editing each chapter. Once they’re done, you have something to post. Stick to perhaps one a week. It might take a bit of time getting the first few done.

Scribophile is a great place for those looking to publish - they can provide feedback that you can use in your editing process.

So, post my slightly edited chapters on Scribophile to get help?

Thanks for this.

I don’t know anything about Kindle Vella so I’m afraid I’m of no help there. However, if you ever plan on publishing traditionally, they won’t likely accept your work if it’s been published anywhere else. This means self publishing, and publishing to online platforms for free too.

Well, traditional is out anyway because this is the route I am choosing.
Thanks for commenting.

Wondy! I’m not on Kindle Vella, though I’ve thought about it off and on. You’ll have to give us updates on how it’s working out for you. (*^-‘) 乃

Awesomeness!

Absolutely edit. It’s very obvious when it hasn’t been done.

On the money front, 95% of authors never earn as much as those who are famous so don’t go into this expecting to make much.

I’ve no idea on how Kindle Vella works, but I wish you the best of luck!
