The problem with this matriarchal system is the existence of trans people

Huh…never knew that.

Poseidon created it as a gift to his beloved water nymph wife (that he wasn’t supposed to fall in love with because she was a mortal then, but he did anyway). So, basically, he just pulled rocks out of the water and stuff :stuck_out_tongue: Godly stuff. Then he gives her and all water nymphs another gift which is a gem that makes them immortal.

The Last Princess of Atlia. It’s in its first draft, barely written stages.

If women are in power and men are lesser, then what to make of trans women and trans men?

This isn’t a big deal, but please make Posedion have a beard. He looks so wrong without one.

Really cute story, though.

He’s likely to not appear in full, but if he does, he will be bearded

Here’s my inspiration board for him to assure you.

In Atlia, it’s not like men don’t have power. They just don’t rule. And if you are a woman, you are a woman. Identify as you like or as you need.

I read Lore Olympus.

Beardless Posedion and Zeus burned my eyes figuratively.

I suspect it’s because the artist either doesn’t know how to draw beards or doesn’t find them attractive, but it’s jarring.

Imagine if Puss in Boots wasn’t a fuzzy cat, but a hairless Sphynx. I like Sphynxes, but Puss in Boots has always been drawn as furry!

Ah, yes, I see. Good that they’re inclusive.

That would seriously be a completely different character.

Exactly my point.

Awesome.
Can’t wait for it.

Oooh. And how are people born? Are they born immortal? And do they stop ageing at a certain age, and why?

Ohh

Yay! Thank you for answering

Questions

Summary

Ooh. So the magick has deep roots in their culture and how they act. That’s neat =3

Do they interact the way humans do? Do they have a different language? Do they hug? Snuggle at night? Friendships? Dating? What would be considered a rude interaction, or gesture? What misunderstandings are there with them and humans? Social stuff like that

Is there something special that differentiates males from females?
Are there males at all?
Is the queens-only a traditional thing or is there some magick behind it?

Sounds good! I like it

Oooooo. Are there other gods? Do they have anything to do with the story? If not, have they left? Where’d Poseidon go and why?

They can talk as in languages everyone can understand, if they want to? Even humans?

:joy: In the universe of Atlia are other creatures of the sea capable of cruelty? Can they affect the magick?

Is magick effected purely by emotions + intentions, or is it action-based? Both?

Those are some really big boots to fill for Pandora :eyes:.

If this is still on the table, I imagine Celeste is a singer? How does Celeste and Pandora come across each other? Does the water nymph / siren aspect play in to the story, with Celeste being a singer? Or the music company?

Additional Questions!

Since Atlians are immortal from their magick, what do they do about their population? Do they ever experience a reduction in population? Or overpopulation, if that’s possible?

Could a foreigner ever take over as queen?

Does anyone get upset with the fact that the same queen rules for an extremely long time or do they not mind because she’s probably pretty awesome at it?

Does time pass differently in the minds of the immortals, since they live so long?
Who’s the longest living Atlian?

What are funerals like for them? How do they take loss and death when they’re immortal?

What are the stereotypes made about them?

What are commonly-believed myths about them?

What’s the most recent development with the story  ?

Summary

They don’t really know. For them, they figure “The gods know all of our languages, and specifically used the word ‘sacrifice’, and sacrifice in our history has often meant we offer up some living thing worthy of being a sacrifice so…?” It was a lot of guesswork for them, and of course not everyone agreed with the assumptions and the interpretations being made. They’d turn out to be right (in a sense), years later. Some still question if the sacrifice actually means “kill them to offer them up to the gods” or “we’re giving you to the gods, who will kill you”, and many hope the former isn’t true, and the latter doesn’t happen. But many are also okay with it, because as far as they’re concerned, it’s just one life for a noble cause, and they’d be just as happy to be the sacrifice if it meant saving others. A lot of people just don’t want to think about it since the sacrifice is the only hope.

Not yet! By the time the book starts, years have passed, and several regions around the world have fallen. The sacrifice is discovered early on in the story, within a couple of chapters, and that begins a lot of questions about the validity of the sacrifice.

Group A wants to take a look at the sacrifice and determine for themselves if a child is really it. How can the sacrifice be something so unimportant? Doesn’t this also mean the sacrifice didn’t even exist before the gods asked for the sacrifice?

Group B wants the child sacrifice dead ASAP to prevent suffering across the world, for all species. They don’t think there’s any “right” way to sacrifice, just that it needs to happen.

Then there’s also some small governments that want the sacrifice for themselves, to try using the sacrifice as leverage. If they can get their hands on the sacrifice, then everyone else is at their whim as to when the sacrifice is made. Since not everyone is horribly off and suffering, it still doesn’t quite seem like “the end” to all of them, and power plays like this still happen, where it feels like some don’t quite “get it”.

Many areas are wastelands. Others, people can still grow things, and live off of crops. They are so far from any other sign of life that they assume the entire world must be mostly dead. Rumors of some cities, or towns, having electricity and other advanced-tech, are considered wild dreams. Meanwhile, there’s definitely some cities, or neighborhoods within those cities, that enjoy a lavish lifestyle because, if it’s the end of the world, they figure enjoy it to the fullest, not their fault others are less fortunate (I’m still figuring out the logistics of all of that, and exactly how I picture this world and the way it functions. It’s a mess). A lot of humans let go of the lives they had before, a lot of humans did anything to hold onto it.

If you get sick from anything we’re used to in this world then you might have the meds to take care of it depending on where you’re located. If you get sick from the monsters, you’re doomed. Scientists did not have anywhere near enough time to properly research these new entities, and the damage they cause to life on the planet when coming in to contact with the bizarre organisms the monsters bring with them. 2-3 billion people died in the first year. The death count only slowed down because of the Legionnaires, who can kill the monsters–but even for them it’s really difficult to do so.

They need to be given a piece of the gifted gem to be immortal. They don’t stop aging, but they age really, really, really slowly. Like, example, MC Pandora is nearly 3000 years old, her human age would be around nineteen or twenty, but she acts young for her age. Like a seventeen-year-old.

You come up with such good questions. I’ll take a look at your answers to mine tomorrow

Main Questions Answers

Interesting question. Complimenting on looks and friendly smiles to the opposite sex, might seem like flirting to a human, but for Atlians it’s a natural thing to do. It’s like in the states, people might hug more easily but in other countries, they might not.

That’s all I have right now.

There’s only been one ruler for over 3000 years. The First Atlian Queen (FAQ  ). So, naturally, she’s going to make the females be the ones that have the power. Besides, they are the ones that birth the children and increase the population. Pretty important.

Well, there might be Hades somewhere. Possibly other gods, but I haven’t decided yet. I’m sticking pretty close to anything related to the ocean. Poseidon is…somewhere out there :stuck_out_tongue: He does have a physical form so the only way he can communicate is by sending different messengers like birds or dolphins if he has anything to say or any gifts to give.

Hmm…maybe  But no, they wouldn’t talk to humans. They aren’t allowed to show that side to humans. They are Poseidon’s messengers after all. And what would humans do? Capture them and experiment on them.

My story has yet to tell me the detail-details of magick. Today I found out there might be three? kinds of magick. Chaos, unity, and Call of the Sea. I know, I know, the last one is kind of like what the heck, but now it stuck XD

She’s not a singer. Well, idk, maybe she is XD I wouldn’t be surprised if that girl was secretly getting voice lessons. She’s pretty and cute so they use her as a kind of…face of the company sometimes. And she has a dream of becoming a model, so she keeps her looks to perfection.

Additional Questions Answers

Since the First Atlian Queen, all Atlians received the gem, so they don’t really age much and if that’s the case, they didn’t really need to reproduce. So, however many there were at the time, most likely there still are a similar amount today. Then the queen had a whole bunch of kids and some other Atlians did as well, then there were lots of little ones running around. And then when the wars began they were depleted.

Are you trying to anger the court? XD

They approve because Poseidon said so. Also today I found out that a monster called the Beast of Worth approved of her and she is the only one who can command it. No one can say anything once the Beast is involved, apparently. There’s a whole story now about him XD

3 years spent in the human realm is 1 year in Atlia. So, time passes differently for sure.
I think there might just be an old woman living in a library coming up in the story and she’s probably the oldest.

Right now, after so much war, they are all just tired of this. When the queen died, that hit everyone hard. I mean, she was the first queen and the only queen for over 3000 years. Funerals are likely cremation.

Well, the villain often says “you are all as insignificant as krill and don’t deserve this power”. But apart from that, as a whole, Atlians don’t have stereotypes. I also learned today there are different species of Atlians.

If humans saw them, they would be sirens that lure sailors, the Little Mermaid, or sea serpents.

Pandora must now go into the war room because something came up. Literally. A sea monster suddenly emerged. Sea monsters are Poseidon’s creation, but they are not owned by him, particularly. In the wrong hands, they could be trouble.

Oooh sounds interesting!

I’m wondering, what’s the geopolitical situation like?

I have a project that answers the age old question of “Why must powerful women be pitted against each other?”

The answer is: It’s fucking fun!

You say this as if Group B knows which child. Do they know? Do many know or is it just a wild guess? Also, didn’t you say the youngest people are in their twenties? Do you mean there are still children on the earth? Or did I understand that wrong?

Okay, so what is the most effective way to kill the monsters?
