Listen, everyone, I have a wonderful idea! (YOUTUBE RELATED)

Hello, everybody.

I am subscribed to some YouTubers who do not show their face at all, but two of the reveal their voice.

These YouTubers are at their desk, doing something. I am ALWAYS at my desk unless something changes like, life related stuff or something else.

Why not do things at my desk, when it comes to hobby writing and worldbuilding, along with some hauls and anime/manga/manhwa related thing too?

All of it, at my desk or a cleaning of my desk sometimes. Not so much vlogs, but at my desk vlogs, though it’s not a daily thing.

Ask me anything in terms of what I will be showing, wanting to sharing, and anything else.

Thoughts and feelings?

The at the desk types are nice. A lot of artists do it and it has a nice homey feel to it…or that could be just me :stuck_out_tongue:

Idk how they do it though. Probably some kind of tripod overhead thing. Might need good lighting or overhead lights or something.

What are some video ideas you have in terms of writing? Typing or handwriting?
Also, just curious, you’re comfortable showing your hands? I’m asking because I don’t like showing anything of me if I can help it :stuck_out_tongue: Especially not my hands. Wondering how you felt about it.

That is something I need to get. I have nothing like that now and I would like that have that until I get the semi-pricey stuff. I have my phone for now.

50/50 because some days I don’t want to type or hand write notes and my stories all the time.

If my hands stay moisturized then that is not a problem.

That’s a good idea. I’ve seen certain videos by Sara Cannon where she only shows her hands filling out a journal or something while she explains what’s she doing, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a whole video like that. Don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work, though. You could play some really nice music while you do it, and just show captions of what you’re doing instead of speaking, if you wanted to.

YouTube has a whole library of freely licensed music you can use for that kind of thing. For instance, I totally lurve this song:  (˘ᴗ˘ღ)

That’s the thing I need to do.

I don’t have anything to hold the phone I am using, except for this thing.
Didn’t know how to position it.

Oh well.

You could also, IF YOU WANTED TO, make an avatar and use that instead of your face. A lot of channels do that. Or yes, just showing your hands. MichaelMJD shows interesting computer stuff and no one has seen his face. He’s pretty famous.

Thanks. I will just show my hands.

It’s not my thing, but if it sounds like something you’d enjoy, I say do it. :man_shrugging:

Thanks.

Update: I do not have any videos yet, I do however have a name for my channel.

Nothing is in the works now, because I want to start when I get the tools that I need to make it possible.

I refuse to start with a proper tripod of sorts.

The channel’s name is Desk Time Hobbyist.

I set up the name, I just didn’t add any videos because I want a proper tripod as the overhead.

I did find one though.

That is all I wanted to share.

I don’t watch that type of content so I can’t really comment - but what I will say is you seem to spend a lot of time thinking/planning/ruminating about it all… just start! It’s the end of the year, you should try and make it your goal to just start. Have fun with it!

I don’t have a proper tripod. What I do have was pissing me off because it’s in the way and I don’t know what to use instead or how to prop it. I am limited.

For this, you can use the phone holder you have, it won’t be the world’s best view, but I would urge you not to go buying a ton of stuff if you haven’t even tested doing YouTube content yet. A tripod is cheap and you can get them on Amazon (I have an Amazon basics full-size tripod that works amazingly well after 5 years, but I also have small, very cheap ones. SHEIN also sell tripods and mounts for phones with built in lights, I have one of them and it works great).

You can also try balancing your phone holder (I have the same one, too!) with a book or two.

The only phone holder I have is this.

The only tripod I need is for overhead filming. I am wondering how to pull off decent filming with that phone holder.

You won’t get proper overhead but you can at least get angled and pointed at your desk

The way I use it is that I have the phone holder close to me, I am unsure about angles because where to place the phone to get a decent enough view.

Should I search for videos on how to do proper angles for faceless videos with only a phone and limited tools?

Just record your first video, today, tomorrow, or something. Angle it the best you can using your holder. See how it looks. Then go from there - maybe you will need it higher up, so you can put books under the holder. Maybe you need to angle it more, so you can balance with things. Just do it
