Sorcerer magick - white, but most Sorcerers use color magick which costs no magick energy to give the magick a color. Up to three different colors usually. Each Sorcerer has a signature color. The only color that magick can have, and this is super rare, is gold.
Kattaluna magick - a soft yellow tint
Shaa magick - usually black with red sparks. sometimes a deep purple.
Elemental magick of native ancient Elganians - each element looked like, well, that element Fire looks like fire, water is clear or blue, ice is white or pale blue, wind is clear but you can see the little leaves or debris it pushes around, earth can be invisible unless manipulating plants than it comes out green
For Kattaluna and Shaa magick the colors don’t change no matter what they do.
OOOH. Now I need to make it into a scene! Definitely will in the next book!
It is all types of sea animal, though they cannot manipulate other living creatures from lakes or rivers that do not connect to the ocean. Since they were experimented on, it’s based around the chemical that allows them to have such powers, and when they were “dumped” into the ocean for the government to get rid of, the chemical seeped into the molecules of the ocean and allowed them to control any animal within its water. It has to be an animal without higher intelligence, so they can’t manipulate other aliens or humans within their waters unless that alien has animal-like traits from their planet. If that makes any sense?
Their manipulation basically is a form of mind-control so they can use a shark to attack people or a whale to guide them across the ocean or whatnot, and they can do this even with humans—like if a human wanted to get to a certain island but didn’t know where to go or couldn’t get there, the sirens can use a whale or dolphins to guide them to that island.
Me: Oh that’s nice.
My brain: Or they can use a whale to attack people and a shark to guide them across the ocean “Fish are friends, not food!” type of shark.
Yes, it’s selfish, so only the king and his descendants of him can have it… but it all has to be ‘pure’ if you know what I mean. So like the other parent HAS to be from a wealthy class family for the magic to pass on at least another heir
Yeah, it isn’t so common, all her life she was led to believe that there was no magic. It is a battle for her yes when she sees it is real, so she has to learn everything she knew again with magic being in it
