Oof, it might not be a phase

Are cringe writing phases ever really just phases?

I totally grew up on too much Twilight and Wattpad and got grossly vampires for years. Then adult me realized how cringe it was and how cliche the subgenre is. Then after months of not writing and being super depressed found a really cool horror novel and spent the whole day thinking maybe vampires weren’t the lame part it’s just how boringly cliche they are. Man, maybe if I write this…..

Yeah…I’m probably not getting over this like ever. Bored of it yes. Disappointed by it also yes. But will I ever stop deluding myself into thinking I’m going to one day write some really amazing vampire story because yes vampires are cool af…and yeah I still would love a cool vampire boyfriend…probably not. So yeah. Maybe I’ll try writing again?

We can definitely go through phases… but tbh “vampire media” is also just genuinely cool when done well lol. I never got over my love for vampire media at all, I love it!! Write what you want, make cool AF vampires that aren’t cringe, there’s a ton of us who would read it

DO IT DO IT DO IT

It makes you happy! So imo that’s the I ly reason you should do it.

Also vampires are all about the execution… if you do it well they won’t bother you anymore. badum tss

Everything is a phase, some phases last days and others decades. Enjoy it while it lasts.

If you want to not write it, maybe try branching out to other media. Try werewolves, or billionaire CEOs, or dark lords, or Freeman’s Mind.

i am also contemplating a vampire idea and i genuinely think it is the best story concept i have come up with in my life. so good, in fact, that i can’t figure out the story to do it justice.

i, too, grew up with Twilight but thinking back on it now, it wasn’t even the vampires who were cringe. sparkly “vegan“ vampires actually sounds pretty cool, but uh….centuries-old vampires attending high-school for no reason and one of them ‘falling in love‘ with a 16- or 17-y/o, who gets married and has a baby straight out of school…now THAT is cringe lol.

i saw a reel on IG a while ago, which was a sketch about a group of vampire friends giving sh*t to another vampire who had ‘fallen in love‘ with a high-schooler (named Jessica :joy:). and at the end, one of them is like - what’s Jessica’s mom like? and that is a vampire romance i would genuinely love to read lol. a woman (or a man, why not) in her 30s/40s who finally finds a man/woman ready to settle down and it’s a 100-y/o vampire

My type of vampire is Alucard from Hellsing, and especially from Hellsing Abridged.

I also like Shalltear Bloodfallen from Overlord, her true form is a leech woman.

Of course the natural world is great for inspiration

Or Half-Life: Full Life Consequences!

So true! Like the vampires were pretty cool. The writing style not awful. The romance toxic and shady AF. To the point it’s almost funny that Robert Pattinson is playing Chris Hanson lol.

Also, I feel that. I can come up with great ideas, but I can never execute them. They just sit in story map jail.
