Welcome to the Photon Editing page! We are a small editing company who has, after much trouble, finally been able to open our doors to all writers and students. Whether you’re writing a short story, an essay, a speech, a novel or anything in between, we are here to help.

Our prices are low and our work is quality. No matter what package you choose, be it a small overlook or a detailed edit, we promise to treat them all well, provide you with feedback and hunt down all those little overlooked mistakes that everyone makes.

PACKAGES AND PRICING

Pick your package! Each one is different. Please remember to put the name of your chosen package in the submission form. Prices vary depending on length and submission category. Prices are based on a 2,500 word count. For anything above this, prices will be upped by $1 for every extra thousand (1,000) words.

Payment is only required if your piece has been accepted.

Half of payment is required before editing can begin.

NEBULA

A general overview of your work - Basic spelling, grammar, structure and proofreading of your work/project/story.

Price: $10

STARBIRTH

Developmental Edit - Help with concept and coherence, as well as general development of your work/project/story.

Price: $15

MOON

Structural Edit - Help with plot holes, characters, setting, pacing and themes of your work/project/story.

Price: $15

PLANET

Line and Copy Edit - A look at general structure, word choice, grammar and overall writing quality. A look over citations/references is also included.

Price: $15

STAR

Mechanical Edit - A final edit of your work. Spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting and abbreviations are checked, as well as citations/references.

Photon Editing recommends the following of our Packages for Fiction submissions:

Any of them! All are an option for Fiction submissions!

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR FICTION

  • Flash fiction, short story, novella and novels are accepted

  • Please specify which of the above you are submitting, along with the word count and chapter count (if there are chapters)

  • Overall, any genre is accepted!

  • Poetry, screenwriting and horror will only be accepted for smaller or individual packages (sorry!)

  • Don’t be afraid to submit anything you’re working on no matter the genre! You have a higher chance of being accepting than not

  • Remember to check which package you would like

  • Remember to fill out the submission form

ACADEMIC SUBMISSIONS

EDITING OPTIONS FOR ACADEMIC WRITING

Photon Editing recommends the following Packages for Academic Writing:​

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ACADEMIC WRITING

  • Title of the work

  • Subject/unit (e.g., creative writing, history, geography, etc.)

  • Topic of work (what it’s about)

  • Math itself and anything math related will not be accepted. Sorry about this!

  • Don’t be afraid to submit anything you’re working on no matter the topic or subject! You have a higher chance of being accepting than not

  • Remember to check which package you would like

  • Remember to fill out the submission form

RULES FOR SUBMISSION AND LINK TO FORM

THE RULES FOR SUBMITTING

  1. No night before entries (these will automatically be denied)

  2. It takes a minimum of two days to complete one (1) submission

  3. Overall time will depend on the selected package

  4. Fill out the form and the requirements (these are given on the Fiction and Academic pages respectively)

  5. English only please! Remember to specify which version of English (American or British) as they are slightly different

  6. For novels and novellas, please only send one chapter at a time. If you want more than one chapter, you will have to make another request.

HOW THIS WORKS

  1. Send your message by following the form

  2. Once the message is received, an email saying whether you have been accepted or denied will be sent ASAP

  3. If you were denied, don’t be disheartened! You’re free to submit as many things as you want, but only one thing at a time.

  4. If you have been accepted, a message from PayPal will be sent with your price, as well as an email requesting your piece.

  5. Please make sure your piece is sent either as a Word Doc. or a link to Google Docs.

  6. Editing will begin once the piece AND payment have been received.

Yay it got approved :joy:

So, if anyone has questions about credentials (might pop up, might not), here they are.

I’m one semester off getting my BA in Creative Writing and have lots of experience in editing. I’ve qualified for honours and if things go to plan this semester, I’ll qualify for masters.

I’ve done lots of tutoring for essays, comprehension, short answer, modern and ancient history, geography, social studies, earth sciences so have experiences for helping out with editing mainly in these areas.

I also am doing a BM in History and Culture but will be two units off being able to get that because covid screwed my electives and the system can’t do anything to help sadly.

  1. How many times do I need to pay you, because I am thinking of trying the universe payment option? Is it a one time thing or I have to pay you as many times that you need?

  2. Do you want me to completely finish the first draft or would you like to see bits/pieces of it to get a sense of what you’ll be working with?

  3. What fiction genres do you normally handle? I work on fantasy or in my case science-fantasy, but my story is an interesting case for me. The world is purely fictional, the magic is a hard magic system, and the technology is ten years more advanced than on Earth 2024.

  4. How would you like to be paid, because I don’t normally use PayPal, but I can try and see something?

  5. When is the perfect time to email you, because I live in an America and our timezones aren’t the same?

  6. Do you take US dollars along with Australian dollars?

Right now it is at 34,077 words, 95 pages long.
I am on chapter 11 at the moment. There are going to be five or maybe seven parts, each with five chapters.
