Arden’s theme sounds like an anime theme tune. Not very battle-like to me. The anime is about genetically modified dolls who fight monsters, though.

Eden’s sounds like Azerbaijan’s entry for Eurovision, though. It just needs a strong singer over it.

Damon’s is the only one that really screens BATTLE MUSIC to me. :joy: Sorry.

What should I name my alien race? I have some options.

My alien race is dubbed the First Ones, but I am not so sold on the name. I mean I can still use it in a way, yet I would need to give them a new species name.

Pretty much the First Ones are a sufficiently advanced alien race who looks very human in appearance. What makes The First Ones different than your average human is that they have superpowers, are abnormally attractive, and are completely immortal. The First Ones created Alterra with both their superpowers and their advanced technology. Originally, Alterra was an absurdly massive rocky planet that could not sustain life. Thus, the First Ones changed that so they can have it accommodate them and later on humanity. Also, the created the human race granting them extended lifespans, but not so much immortality.

Here are the names that I’ve chosen and can’t decide from.
Which name rolls off the tongue to you?

  • Krols.
  • Taun.
  • Ghed.
  • Ziczol.
  • Aercex.
  • Zave.
  • Svirs.
  • Qezu.
  • The First Ones (keep it anyway).

Which one are you using for your novel(s)?

  • A pen name.
  • Your real name.

My Turn:

I shall be using a pen name. Since my name is very unique, I don’t want people butchering it and misspelling my name wrong. Then I have to correct them constantly. No, I shall use a pen name and be on my merry way.

I’m using my real name

No real reason for it :joy: I just can’t really be bothered to invent a new name for myself

That is understandable. I would use my real name, but I rather not deal with the annoyances of correcting people.

Yeah that makes sense. My real name is fairly ordinary and boring (at least by north american standards) so I don’t have that issue

Ah, okay. You can get away with it. LOL!

That is the trouble with unique names. The names are great, but having people understand them is a hassle.

However, even ordinary and boring names are butchered and misspelled sometimes.
Do you know how many people get names like John, Michael, Susan, and Mary wrong?

More times than you would think. LOL!

Okay this gets a liiiiiittle complicated :joy: Cora started as very much a pen name, but after spending a lot of time online, coming out as nonbinary, and my irl and online friend groups starting to mix, my irl friends started calling me Cora as well as Ash (a derivative/nickname that came from my deadname, and what a lot of people call me irl) and now almost all of my friends know both of my names and choose which to refer to me by. Both are my chosen names, and I’m comfortable with people calling me either, in any context, so I’m not sure if Cora is just a pen name at this point :joy:

Oh, I see.

I could have sworn that you had a character in your story named Cora. Is that not true?

That’s true as well, I used my character’s name as my pen name because I liked it

Alrighty then.

I understand.

Is there something pertaining to writing that you haven’t done in a while, but you miss doing?

My Turn/Example:

I haven’t posted my story in what feels like years (probably because it has been LOL!), but I miss having people read my work even if it wasn’t all that great and giving me reviews and ratings. The reason why I no longer post anything is because I can never finish a story and I guess I want my novel to be perfect and polished for my readers.

What about you?

  • Yes.
  • No.
  • Maybe/I don’t know.

Princess and the Frog.

I’ve experimented with both, and I prefer using my real name. Deciding on using my own name was a long process for me, because I, too have a culturally specific name. But I decided I preffered using that name instead of any other name (and besides, I don’t think my name is that hard to use)

For me, it’s writing itself, and sharing my story on wattpad, doing r4rs and reviews and reading other works. I’m now very busy, barely get time to write, and I’m woefully inactive on Wattpad.

So, you’re doing both a mixture of a pen and real name, huh?
