I still want to do this, I’m just not publishing. I always want to continue writing, I just cannot see myself as a published author, traditional or indie. I refuse to be swayed or given into doing something that never brought me joy.
So, I will print my own book for myself. Some stories won’t get that, some will get that treatment.
That is all I wanted to share with you.
Thoughts and feelings?
Personally, I want to kill my “love” for publishing as an author, burying it six feet under. I just don’t want to kill my love for writing, I need to cherish it much more.
Up to now I’ve published all my books on Amazon, but never again! Thanks to Jeff’s alignment with Trump and his treatment of the Washington Post, not to mention the fact that he won’t let readers download ebooks to their computers anymore, I’m done.
And no one can convince me that part of the reason he’s a MAGAt now is so he can quash any attempts by his employees to unionize. Trump’s always hated unions, so I’m sure he’ll make them illegal soon, even though that would be illegal. (-᷅_-᷄๑)
I might publish through Draft2Digital, which probably distributes to Amazon along with everywhere else, but I’m never going exclusive with Amazon again.
I enjoy D2D a lot! Historically I made more wide through D2D than I did Amazon exclusive, but that’s changed… probably just because I’m hard focusing KU right now!
Do it. Writing a book is an achievement but even better is seeing it in a physical form.
I’m also considering using b&n to print my books. I want to make them available to be bought, but I don’t have time or energy for the full indie experience.
Also, I’ve been keeping track of indie advice and everyone says that you shouldn’t expect to make money until you have at least 6 books published. So I feel like I’ve got plenty of time to just take it easy and not stress about “the launch” right now.
I’ve been comparing pricing and it’s actually affordable. It’s a similar price to Ingram. But I wonder if b&n has better quality. I guess I won’t know until I print samples from each.
I haven’t tried looking at any local printers yet and I wonder if I should.
If you finished six books then you can tackle editing and publishing for later, maybe?
I will give it a shot later on after finishing book two of Project Succession and Red Reign…and any other book.
I was going to try Staples (a home office store) or the library for printed. Yet I always like the illusion that I am an author even if I’m not a published one. I want that shown in my book too.
