Project Mage is my new idea! Got to ask anything, if anything?

I am currently working on Project Succession and really loving it.

However, Project Mage is going to be another novel series set in Alagossia that has **NOTHING TO DO WITH PROJECT SUCCESSION, just a different story set in the same world…or planet.

Glance at the idea here

The general idea of the story is about a woman who is an apprentice to a Mage Lord, who was about to get fired from her apprenticeship. On the day she encounters her mentor, she finds that he was killed by an unknown person. But out of it she finds an invitation to a gathering in the “secret” Mage society to help heal a member of the highest tier in the Mage hierarchy, who is dying slowly from a magical disease. Seeing this as an opportunity to change her life, by pretending to be the Mage Lord and start climbing up the ladder to success. Though her fellow apprentice comes back from an assignment to learn about his mentor’s death and her disappearance. He makes it his duty to locate her, bringing things to justice on how his mentor dies. Now, she has to pretend to be her mentor and start her life over by pretending to be a dead man, but also escape her horrid familial past and shame. All while her fellow apprentice is searching for her to have her arrested, yet is hiding something troubling.

The theme is something that I don’t know and won’t know till maybe, maybe later on.

Her name isn’t established yet though I do have ideas on it. Other than that, what are your thoughts? I HAVE NOT STARTED THIS STORY AT ALL YET!!!

Thoughts and feelings?

I made changes to the idea, so that it makes proper sense to me.

Oh it sounds really fun!

Why was she about to be fired anyway? And what’s the illness?

The Mage Lord did some snooping to learn about the MC’s familial past, because of that he was going to fire her along with her not being adequate for the role of taking his place, because she is not great at adapting fast enough. I mean that is the goal in a way.

I am working on that, but it is a deadly one that targets the misting veins. It’s like suffocation and blood blockage was an illness or something along those lines. As far as the name of the illness, I am at a loss, but it affects the misting levels of a person.

From this I would presume that Mages are specialty doctors in a way.

Thanks! I’m really liking the idea! I tried to do this before, but I wasn’t in the right head-space for it back then.

Any more questions to ask?

Are any of the characters going to overlap, or will this be a completely different cast?

why would she kill her mentor? what is her specific motivation?

Completely different cast of people.

I think it would be fun to have a reference to the other story or have a character from the story make a cameo.

Originally, it was someone else who killed the Mage Lord and she was there to talk to him about something, only to come in the room to see the Mage Lord dead. That is where she learns about she being fired and the ceremony for Mage Lord was in a letter invitation where she goes in place of the Mage Lord, who they believe is her.

True, I may put that into consideration.

Thanks to @lunar.eclipse asking the most important question that I did not think hard about, I am changing the idea a little to make it make more sense.

So, thanks so much again for that!

I am now about to choose the name for this female protagonist.

To FantasyNameGenerator.com, I shall go!

Update: My female protagonist is going to be named Israna Liliryn Miatris of the fallen High Elite Miatris family.

This sounds like it’ll be an interesting read!

Off-topic:

I have another novel project that is called Project Pillar though that might wait a little after Project Mage.

But thanks so much!

So the people who invited her mentor to the gathering know her mentor? Do they know he’s a man? Or does she just say he died and she took over?

Ooooo. Will that one also take place in the same world?

The mage society is very secretive in that regard. So, they know what certain mage lords do, but not their names and faces. They don’t know the genders of the Mage Lord and MC will not say that the mage lord has died. She only cares about getting what she needs and wants.

Yes. This story takes place on Alagossia, but has nothing to do with Project Succession at all.
