Question to everyone: What is your next project? It can be in relation to a new novel, world-building a new world or setting, something pertaining to a character or some idea. If it is the same project, what is a minor-ish thing that you need to work on with your story/world/plot/characters/etc?
My Turn:
Project Sovereign Realm is strictly and only relates to word AND story/plot building/crafting for Alagossia on a major scale. All the things I want to write for the world on both a minor and major scale along with all the things I want to do with story/plot/characters on both a major and minor scale.
I don’t have a schedule, I am not rushing to get things done. I am on my own time schedule which is no time at all. Still, I want to have so much fun working on the project and to get started when I can soon enough.
My inspiration for Project Sovereign Realm is my favorite anime/manga and fiction novels.
What are your thoughts, feelings, and your projects?
My next setting is going to be a fictionalized version of 1990s Caracas, Venezuela. A tribute to the massive popularity of Sailor Moon in Latin America.
I think my next project will be the sequel to my current work, although I’m not sure exactly how that one’s going to end yet. While it will definitely end with the volcano burying the city right after the main character escapes from the prison, I don’t know whether the current king will be killed in the eruption or not. If he isn’t, then the next book will be about a civil war as the crown prince musters an army to take the throne from his wicked uncle.
I’d like to have a good ending to IWH, but I’m really struggling with it lol. I know what I want to happen, I think, but not quite how I want it to work out. I’m sure the right ending will come up – there is the age-old Pixar advice of “trash the first, second, and third ending ideas,” which I may have to use, since I have ideas anyways – but that’s where I am with it lol.
For Meiste, I defintely need to go back and rewrite the first part. It was weirdly paced lol.
It was from an old Khan Academy collaboration with Pixar about storyteling. I went through it when I was about 12 or so? I remember enjoying it, even if it was a little introductory. I don’t think that piece of advice was word for word, but it was pretty similar. If I find it again, I’ll stick it in this post lol.
I want to do some more smaller scale projects myself. I don’t always have to do novels or world-building related projects (even though it’s nice), just something light.
Even writing fan-fiction and writing prompts is nice to do more often.
I need to work on AAD. Before editing the manuscript, my editor suggested to make a story map starting from the ending, so that’s going to be interesting. I start with where I want the characters to end up and backtrack, then I’ll make sure I got all of them down in the story.
Really I need to make sure all the characters’ stories are nicely intertwined and that all the characters’ roles for the main plot is nicely shown. Basically, tying everything up and making sure it’s all consistent.
Also, between hard editing, I’m writing a fun short story series. The current one is about the giraffe alien I might have mentioned before
