Project Succession is on a hiatus till mid-January!

So, I decided to put Project Succession on hiatus till the middle of January 2025. I five months to get back in the swing of things with plotting, planning, some editing, world building, practing small stories, and reading some more.

Hold me accountable, because I need it.

When I go back to Project Succession, I rewriting it entirely to what is should, by adding everything together from the notes. Plus I also see the hiatus as the break I should’ve taken after draft 0 of the project.

So, that is just something I wanted to share.
Thoughts? Feelings?

Um…happy hiatus? (>‿◠):v:

I guess it’s always good to take a break now and then to regroup. Any special reason why you chose January?

I honestly don’t know why I chose January. And it is five months from now, starting September.

So, I am unsure how to answer that.

I should’ve done that after the zero draft, but decided to not do said thing. Plus, I was in a really weird head-space, still is, but what can you do.

On another note, don’t we have the best job in the world? I mean, electricians and firefighters can’t just say, “Taking a hiatus! See you in January!” But we can! (>‿◠):v:

Taking a break makes a huge difference. Gives you some real missing perspective.

True, which is something I greatly need.

It’s always good to take a step back from a story after you finish a draft, that way you can come at it with a new perspective and fresh eyes when you come back to it.

The draft I was working on, I stopped at chapter 16, though the zero draft is completed.

So, yeah, I should’ve taken a long break, but at least I know what to do when January comes, in terms of changing things. I am glad to at least write enough to know what I should be doing next time.

UPDATE:

Now, I am stuck on what I should really be doing with this story. I can wait five months, not touching it, while during that time I can plot/plan/world build, but once January comes rewrite it OR keep working on the draft I have now, take notes in between, then when it comes to the third drafting stage I know what to write because of the notes OR take a bunch of notes on what changes and stays the same then go back to writing in January?

I’M INDECISIVE AND IT’S FREAKING ME OUT!!!

Update: I am just going to keep on writing what I have and change things while jotting down notes.

I still do love the hidden potential amidst the utter nonsense. I don’t know if I am going to be able to make sense of it or not, yet I will have to wait and see till then.

I APOLOGIZE FOR MAKING A BIG OUT THIS AND I AM SORRY FOR WASTING YOUR TIME!!!

Ah! I see!

I think this would be best for any story… Write first until finishing the base draft. All edits and such can be done after.

Now, this might change things a bit.

Still, I am going to keep writing even with the changes written down in the notes.

I wouldn’t stress about planning it out too perfectly. You mentioned you prefer to just write what comes to mind rather than plan everything out and I’m glad that’s the approach you decided to choose.

Each draft/editing session only needs a few changes here and there, weave things from your list in slowly until you’re happy with the story. Don’t be afraid to scrap ideas to prevent things from getting too messy. Best of luck.

While we have all cheered you on as you dove right back into the project right after finishing, idk if many of us wondered, but I definitely wondered if you’d start feeling burnout or regret not taking a break before jumping right back in. I worried that you might get to a point where Project Succession isn’t fun for you anymore. I also thought, you know, maybe you should take a break, but I’m not here to nag on you to do something in a way you don’t want to. I’m just here to support a fellow writer in whatever road she decides to take

So, yeah, to be honest, I’m glad to hear you’re taking a break from it

Excited to see what you’ll be doing until January. I feel like it’s going to be a fun and wild ride

As a fellow someone with a lot of projects, let me tell you what I do when I take a break from editing a project; I work on a completely new project totally unrelated to the editing project. I couldn’t delve back into the world of New Soleil right away. I tried, but my brain was tired of thinking about teen girls going on fun adventures dramatically XD

So, I went back to LHSB and Alive At Dawn. AAD is more like my guilty pleasure. I also go to it when I’m tired of writing "exciting mysterious epic fantasy adventures with magick and talking animals :grinning: "

LHSB is in rewriting stage, but AAD is in charming-adding stage, so it’s just a whole bunch of fun times looking up slang of the 1850s and historical cultural references to stick in. Mentioning the famous books, inventions, painters, and events of the time is fun

I also have an idea for a story I tried writing for ONC and failed. I had this idea for it initially, and then ONC felt like so much pressure on me that I just completely ditched the idea somehow. idk what happened, but I want to go back to it.

Anyway, that’s what’s going on with me while I take a break (until who knows when) from stories featuring teen girls as MCs.

Maybe you can take something away from this? idk, anyway, have fun with whatever you decide to do
