- Writing is like running a 5k but for your brain
- My brain is very out of shape and does not enjoy 5ks
- Apparently 2.2k words on a workday is my current creative limit and if I was not still capable of simple thought would assume it had melted out of my ears.
- Why the heck is novel writing month during time change. Cruel.
- Changing your plan for novel month the day it starts for a random half-baked almost idea you had the night before is insane. I literally have never pantsed so hard in my life.
- I don’t love it but it has potential and I don’t actually care if it’s terrible so maybe I’ll actually finish this one? Hopefully I can edit it into something readable after.
- I guess I see why people run marathons because it feels really good to write again this consistently and this much. Now I must nap.
Yes! The best thing about NaNo was how it got everyone in town writing at the same time. Whenever you’d enter a library or Starbucks, everyone would be typing away on their laptops and you knew they were all writing books for NaNo. It’s so good to have that back! Even though everyone’s doing it for different challenges this year.
Good luck with your writing! Your creative limit’s higher than mine. I’m lucky to hit 1500 words a day. There’s a reason I never won NaNo. ¯\_(ﭢ)_/¯
Oh, i average 1300 most days and feel like my brains going to explode which is why I had to go over to catch back up when i get to easier sections. And thanks i’m managing on sheer will power and its only day 5. This is a lot harder while working full time.
Set a lower goal. Can you write 100 words a day?
The first thousand aren’t bad I think i’m just not used to the discipline of every day.
The important part is consistent practice, after all. Don’t get upset with yourself if you don’t have a complete draft by the end of the month.
Oh even if i got 50k it wouldn’t be a finished book. just the challenge helps to motivate me for sure.
