Show Don't Tell is the WORST ADVICE I HATE IT (lil rant lol)

No pressure to, but now I’m even more curious :sob: I’m a little kepo as we say in Indonesian—curious to the point of nosiness :skull:

Dang, doesn’t that sound familiar

Yeah, it’s always those with the least experience who have the most ego. I remember in this one Wattpad-centric server there was this young girl promoting her story, saying that she and her sister wrote it and that it was “pretty good.” I checked it out wanting to see how bad it was. The writing was worse than I expected :skull: I didn’t want to be mean though, so I DMed the girl to tell her I’ve checked out her first chapter and asked if she was open to feedback. When she said yes, I gave her some pointers, and she improved! It still wasn’t “very good” but it was a visibly somewhat better.

I guess it can also apply to people who have a lot of experience in one “sub-form” of an art, because it doesn’t always translate well. Don’t tell me you can write a good novel just because you’ve written a bunch of scripts or short stories, or that you know what the novel-writing process is like because it’s all writing at the end :sob: they’re completely different art forms and should be treated as such. I learned the hard way with my first novella :skull:

if I find her, I will DM you a link to her profile  she had initially followed me before she proceeded to call me shallow. I think I first wrote a comment asking for more clarity regarding her issue, she replied and followed me, then I posed my silly little question about interiority, then the drama started.

anyway. all good fun. water off my back, as the saying goes :duck:

I just watched a video that stated that Daoists believe that there are three worms in your body who want to snitch on you in Heaven so that your lifespan can be decreased. Should I just leave that as a mention or give it more description and explanation?
