Then I tried my hand at watercolors for the first time in like forty years… I still need to wash it with a brighter blue to sell the Koi feeding there in the middle… but I’m pretty happy with how it came out overall.
I tried to draw Lailoken.
Not my best.
The face is okay.
Hair was a pain. Took forever.
I gave up on the shirt.
I tried to challenge myself to draw a background because I thought it would look cool against his silver hair, but apparently I’ve never seen a tree before.
Sigh. This drawing made me realize that I need to buy more markers. I’ve collected a ton of light colored ones because I kept having a problem of ruining drawings by choosing too dark markers, but for this one I needed dark ones for the background (it’s nighttime - he’s a vampire) and I found that I don’t have any.
Unless I tried to combine? I have some primary colors. I could experiment to see if I can create the right shade.
It’s a risk though. I don’t know how much more this paper will survive. One more layer might be the last allowable.
Ideally, I could use a couple of dark grays to layer over the colors (or under).
Does anyone here use markers?
Redid my cover again. Weeee…
Actually drew the character on the front this time. Maybe this’ll be the cover that sticks ¯_(ツ)_/¯
You could do what the comic book industry does and have a bunch of cover variants. Gotta collect em all!
i love the second to last one in this so much – omg, it looks so professional!
it’s like something you’d see in a book shop
A character concept sheet I did up last week. She will be appearing in comic this chapter, so I REALLY needed to nail her look down!!
AAAAAHHHHH!
Aaa that’s so sweet, thank you! :3
I love this one. Great expressions
Thank you very much! I appreciate that!
Another recent piece of art. It has a specific purpose, but I’m seeing it being a header on many of my current social media spots!
I guess I’ll share the time I tried to make some kind of creature encyclopedia type of drawing. This is a rodent of Elgana called a cantermouse (or “mussa” in the ancient word). It’s a two-headed rodent with one eye for each head. Each head does not have a separate personality. It’s not two individuals, but one individual with two heads. Evolved for better survival.
The Kattaluna race is their main predator. Young cantermice often live in packs. When cornered, packs will begin to attack each other in a panic. The strongest ones will make the escape, leaving the mutilated ones for the predator to finish off.
I drew my MC Cypur and put him on the cover. Reason is, I could not find a good photo to turn into a silhouette situation. I needed one with a cape or a cloak. So, I finally drew it myself.
Not sure if I quite like this cover yet…but it’s better than what I had
Oooh that’s a really pretty cover! Purple and yellow is my favorite color combo ever
