(sends sample of The Storm Crow to her Kindle) I love your fan art.
Some of you may have read Tales of Victor Sierra over on Wattpad (either in part or in whole) I am prepping the collection for print later this year, and I got the cover done the other day… (well mostly I need to detail the backgrounds in each part better.)
Very conceptual indeed
Thank you~ :3 I had fun with the iridescence lol.
Pretty!
Ohhhh that’s nice! I love the opaqueness that’s evident here.
So, I’ve been working more art for ToVS. These are going to be short story dividers, and I’ve been using the pencil tool in CSP to recreate the sketches these are based on:

@JJJ000YYY Thank you!
@Darwin Thank you! It’s not supposed to be opaque, it’s supposed to be silver I just don’t know how to draw metal…yet
Looks amazing, Darwin
TBF metal is a hard medium to capture correctly!
There’s 2 ways to fake metal lighting, that I regularly use.
Overlaying actual metal on a pic or using a flood fill layer that mimics metallic gradients and work with blending from there.
It’s so hard!
I can make things look like fake metal with photo editing, but I haven’t figured out how to draw it yet.
If I was doing photo editing, I would probably do one of those. I have a texture that’s a cloth texture, but if I use it in the right way, it makes surfaces look like they have a metal shine to it.
But drawing is a whole other thing. I have to figure out where the light source is and then figure out how the metal (which in this case is tarnished silver) would react to the light source.
I had to do that rough sketch quickly, but if I take some time, I might have to look for pictures of tarnished metal objects and practice how the light hits.
Upping the contrast/saturation/exposure in photos exposes where the light is at in subtle pics. Shifting the hue gradually exposes subtle color shifts due to metallic lighting, as well.
Best I can suggest? Take a look at a chrome hubcap, or other curved metal. I usually use shades of color for depth and highlight.
Hmmm… I’ll have to experiment.
That’s a really pool-looking pool
Those highlights are nice, too.
I’ve been doing more experiments with using lighter shades of a color rather than white.
