So, tell me, what is on your mind at the moment?

I’ve never heard of Dokkan, but hearing the name makes me think of the band Dokken.

That would be hell enough for me, but man, I don’t live with Florida limitations on routes.

I have so much to do, but the motivation to do it is just not there.
I am distracted and just want to lie down in my bed.

I just don’t want to do anything, but relax and stare into space like I don’t have thing I want and need to do.

Boy, this ADHD or comorbidity is just destroying my will to do anything productive.

I can not wait until I get that referral letter from my doctor to seek something out that can help me.

Right now, I don’t want to do anything until something hits me and grants me the energy I need to be productive again.

It’s frustratingly sad…

Cooking is what poor people do when they’re hungry, or, once again I’m frustrated with the arts industry: A rant

The more I get involved in the arts industry the more I’m beginning to I hate it. There’s a writing workshop coming up in January. And it’s a big deal, like the stories coming out of this workshop will get adapted into short films which will be shown across the region.

They’re selecting three writers for the workshop. Just three out of the hundreds in my city? Is that even a workshop? Babe, that’s a residency. I think people should have access to the workshop itself even if it means paying, and then they can select the best three stories. But nope, they only have enough funding for three writers apparently from an initial selection process.

I guess the idea is to select writers based on the quality of their work, and it’s fully funded so it levels out the economic aspect of it all. Ok sure. Are they paying the writers? Nope. The poor writers are expected to show up for three days, write a story and hand it over to make a film. Is it content farming? No! Of course not; the writer gets a byline. Incredible stuff. All that funding money is going into the pockets of the organisers for running a three-day workshop with a guest speaker from BBC Radio 4. Doesn’t sit right with me. All that talk about democratising the arts and increasing accessibility and this is the solution?

This is bigger than just some writing workshop. I have colleagues who have time and time again been rejected funding to organise their own workshops, which actually have the potential to promote the local creative scene — not just three writers. Though one of the proposals was about a beer truck which is super cool but blah blah blah public funding can’t buy alcohol. Anyway the point is I’m sick and tired of this nonsense. It’s literally one step forward and two steps back. Arts for all. Why does it seem the funding process is just another way for posh bastards to make themselves richer? F democracy; we need anarchy at this point.

I wish I was lucky enough to win the mega millions in the lottery. If I hit the lottery, I would use the money for self-publishing career.

Gosh, I wish I had more money…
