So, tell me, what is on your mind at the moment?

There’s a part of me that’s going, this can’t be real, they’re posting this to start shit, but the OP has a commenter where they already had an admin block this person from their group, which leads me to believe it’s very much a real behavior.

All these people are bickering about AI and stuff while bullies like this are being allowed to have free reign! It’s unacceptable for any so-called community to let problems like this not be addressed. If there’s one asshole doing this, there’s probably a few others!

AI does have a lot of issues, and after having worked with it off and on for about a year, I’d say it’s the same amount of work to use it or not.

I’m thinking about giving myself to give my bedroom a bit of a cleaning and rearranging makeover, but I really to do it in stages.

I don’t care about writing a novel anymore.

What the hell happened now?

I just don’t have the time and motivatio to write something and follow through with it because I am always distracted by a new character, or a new idea and can never stay on track. Novels are also long to write.

You could always just write short stories only.
Though I understand where you are coming from, honestly.
My issue is my mental health tends to cripple me at times.

Yeah, that’s kinda why I am excited for ONC. There are no expectations to ‘write a novel’ and you can’t actually go beyond 50k. You can experiment with the prompts and have fun.

Then you can do that! Don’t stress, just have fun!

I have like five characters at the minute who want their own backstory, so I am compromising by collecting notes on their pasts :joy:

Cool, cool. I am figuring out things with my own story and honestly, I am procrastinating A LOT with taking notes and worldbuilding that I am STILL not finished with chapter 1’s first draft.

So, I am going to have practice what I preach at the moment, by focusing on different characters for solely a short story on them.

Reasonable.

Yeah, you should but this is why I can’t do fantasy :joy: too much research for one 200k novel.

They can all chill and go to the back of the queue. I am using their backstories for world-building reasons only. Not gonna write 300k for them :joy:

I do love it though. I just suffer from the worldbuilding bug badly.
I over worldbuild along with creating character profiles along with chapter summaries than actually starting and sticking to focusing on the actual chapter itself.

I understand that as well. Google Maps helps me a lot with worldbuilding, though, and for inspiration. But I can’t go overboard because I have to stick within the natural land progression :stuck_out_tongue:

So a ‘free’ open-source GPT-4.5 counterpart / early AGI software (service) will be available soon. And maybe by the year’s end there will be a prototype Samantha (Her) Operating System.

Interesting times, huh.

As for writing thoughts, I’m contemplating how to include or reference one of my favourite scenes from the Sword of Gideon film. In SoG, an IDF commando is ordered to ‘jump-rope, like a little girl’ by his Mossad(?) instructor. In my story, Polanski will ask Dov to jump-rope for a few minutes to test his balance, and to demonstrate to Freyja how to develop her balance and coordination, but Polanski is too polite / considerate / elegant to mock him…Krista, however, would be right into that*…

*A visual depiction of the difference between Polanski's and Krista's humor (neither are Jewish, and Polanski is Russian-born, but it still holds)

Oh god! I remember one version of Red Reign I was writing that the country’s borders were so close together.

It’s like people can take a short walk to another country. It was weird and unrealistic.

I am a bit bothered that I was able to finish my first novel, The House of Naivin at over 70K, and yet I keep hoping that I can do it again with a new story, perhaps a bit longer.

The issue is starting and continuing on with the momentum of it. I hyperfocused through that whole novel and there were moments when I wanted to give up, but I kept pushing on.

Now, I want to do that, yet I want to do it in sprints. Physically, I rather not hyperfocus through an entire novel.

I am really aiming to do that again.

This is why I try and make my stories as unhinged as possible, within the Churroverse confines. No one can copy me and say we have similar styles or target me.
