I’m reading Gin to Kin and the characters in that story are more evil in a more realistic way than I’ve seen recently. Gin is a whole different beast from human.

I am not starting chapter 2, part 1 of Project Succession till either Thursday or Friday.
I want my mind to be focused on less stressful things than my doctor’s appointment and what is going to happen next with DDD.
So, I got Thursday or Friday to happily write and to only focus on that.

Apparently a free open-source AI LLM, with performance on-par with GPT-4o, became available on the internet. Yay. The full-sized LLM is rumored to need about 800GB of graphics (GPU) memory to run locally on a PC. Not yay.

Please, don’t complain about the lack of diversity in stories and the publishing industry in general when you’re contributing to it by writing another damn retelling …

If I see one more retelling and person who is complaining about the lack of variety and diversity within the publishing industry, I’m gonna ragequit.
I’m so tired of people’s lack of originality and then them complaining about the publishing industry being “stagnant” or “the same”. If you want to be “diverse” and “creative” like you wanna see, just be original and write something that’s not a retelling.
There are plenty of stories inside everyone that aren’t retellings. There is plenty to take away from your culture, or your everyday life and the people that you interact with that isn’t a retelling. They’re stale now. Everyone and their grandma is doing them. We do not need more Hades and Persephone retellings, or retellings of already retold stories, like Romeo and Juliet. Or Cinderella. Or whatever.
There are already too many. You get what I mean? It becomes lazy after a while if no one is actually doing anything interesting. But if you really need to do a retelling, do something that’s never be retold, at least.
But don’t complain about the lack of originality and diversity in the publishing industry if you do it.

I’m just tired of people yapping about things when they are contributing to the issue in a way, and can easily solve it if they want to. (That’s just my opinion. Disagree if you want).

I agree, but I don’t blame the writers, really, so much as the publishing houses. When you’re trying to get published by the Big 5 or their imprints, the first thing they ask is what are the comp titles for this book? And those comp titles had better be from the last 3 years. Why? Because they want assurance that whatever you’ve written is a popular trend they can capitalize on. They don’t like to gamble; they want a sure thing. So they only want derivative works even though they say they don’t. I don’t blame the writers, though, 'cause writers gotta eat. ¯\_(ﭢ)_/¯

I don’t have diabetes or anything harmful wrong with me, though I am still gaining weight after my bariatric bypass surgery in 2021 or 2022, after falling of the wagon.
So, I have to return back to the basics which is going to be difficult with my mental health.
