Black mirrors from witchcraft ![]()
Black mirrors are easy to make. Lol
It got weird, and I had to explain it in 57k lol for the Wattys.
Nice!
I just know of them from some movies
yess, they release hydrogen sulfide gas which is highly flammable and explosive.
That! Yay science lol

And how clams swim when skedaddling.
Lol, what?!
.
Today’s strange research:
“How much antimatter is required to destroy matter”
“Can matter survive an impact with antimatter if there is enough”
“Why is scifi obsessed with antimatter”
“Latest antimatter theories”
“What would happen if you threw the laws of physics out the window”
This is what I get for diving more into the scifi side than the fantasy side for these two books ![]()
He was Shrek?
Yawp
I love the last search. That’s my kind of logic

The only reason I don’t ask that one is I’m immersed in that, almost literally. What would light be like without rainbows?
This explains what is going on with light. Very useful to see how brilliance works in simplicity, with Newton’s study on the subject.
Anyway if light didn’t bend to show color changes, such as a rainbow on rain, we wouldn’t be able to measure the direction or speed that objects in space are shifting away from us. People crack jokes about whether we are the center of the universe, but the one thing the evidence does show is that every direction we look, we live in a redshifted universe: which means we are potentially in the center of the universe, as on everything is moving away from us (something scientists are denying as much as they can because that means “the big bang” and “ancient galaxies” have moved off-center, and that causes a ton of problems to diffuse). One of the theories as to why it shows that way, here, is because we’re not gravitationally heavy enough to “speed up light” into a blue shift…and…
Well, anyway, at the very least we think space is expanding because rainbows exist. If there wasn’t a mechanism for light of different wavelengths to be different colors, we might not have ever picked up on the expansion of space. This is a way to avoid the Earth being the center of everything, yet keeps everything moving away from it.
It’s like putting two dots in a balloon and blowing it up. The “center” is where you’re letting in air. The moving away is the surface of the balloon stretching. The dots don’t have to be close or far from the point of expansion.
Anyway, if lightwaves didn’t change looks when shifting wavelength, then sound waves wouldn’t change pitch. There would be no singing, all would be rap.
So, yeah, I can do this all day, as long as the kids aren’t on me. Lmao
Thanks ![]()
Most of this is stuff I need to verify, but suits here:

World’s longest whale? A species we’ve not found yet.

“While you may not immediately think of Texas when Tigers come to mind, it is the place where you would be most likely to find one. There are roughly 5,000 captive tigers kept in the state of Texas, while there are an estimated 3,900 tigers living in the wild.”
__
“Left handed-people are five times more likely to die in an accident involving a power tool than their right-handed counterparts. This is due to the fact that most power tools are designed by right-handed people, for use by right-handed people.”
__
“A missing nuclear weapon is quite literally a nightmare scenario. To make matters even worse, at least 6 of those missing belonged to the U.S. All 6 were lost not as a result of theft but either due to negligence or just catastrophic misfortune.”
The list for missing USSR missiles is larger.
But the plain fact of it is that it’s feasible that your character can come across an unclaimed Nuke that has been misplaced.
__
“King Henry VIII suffered perhaps one of the most embarrassing burial ceremonies of any British monarch. During the ceremony, his corpse exploded due to the build of gases and the hot sun. To make matters worse. the mess was cleared up by stray dogs.”

“Lava is rock and stone that has become so heated as to turn liquid. As such, despite being fluid, it is still incredibly dense and is far denser than the human body. This would mean if you ever are unfortunate enough to fall into a volcano you would float while burning from the heat rather than sink below.”
__
“It is common practice amongst morticians when preparing a body to be in an open casket to sew the mouth of the body shut. This is due to the unfortunate and unsightly likelihood for the body’s mouth to fall open if not properly secured.”
Well, it’s either sewed, glued, or wired. That is why Jacob Marley has a kerchief tied around the top of his head down below his jaw.
__
“While scar tissue may seem like a permanent fix to an old wound, it is instead your body’s constant repair of the harmed area that keeps it closed. Your body relies on vitamin C for this process and so a lack will result in scurvy which will cause old scars to reopen.”
__
“It’s uncommon for bears to attack humans unless provoked or a cub is near. But some bears if pushed to the point of starvation will attack a human for food. If that is the case the advice to play dead will not be helpful, you’re better off running for safety or fighting for your life.”
This should be obvious.
__
“Rest assured that you are not alone in your sometimes dangerous forgetfulness, some of the biggest institutions in the world suffer from the same human negligence. A vial of smallpox vaccinia was lost in a CDC storeroom for over 6 years and was only discovered by accident.”
So, finding death in a storage facility shouldn’t be too hard to do…

“The SS Richard Montgomery is an American warship from the second world war that sunk in the river Thames just outside of London. Her cargo was a bellyful of dynamite and other explosives, should she ever rupture she will take the city with her.”

“A language dies when there are no longer any communities that use it to communicate. These extinct languages can be a result of colonialism, war, or disease – if a people die out, they take their culture and language with them. Since the 1950s, over 2500 languages have gone this way.”
I did research this one when I was younger because Cajun French is dying out, so dying and dead languages are a strong part of my history.
__
“The odds of being bitten by a shark in the U.S. are roughly 1 in 5 million. The percentage of the population imprisoned in the U.S is roughly 1 in 143. Of the those imprisoned, it is estimated that 4% are wrongfully convicted. This means that 1 in 3586 people in the U.S are wrongfully imprisoned.”
__
“The Gympie Gympie plant is a natively Australian stinging nettle. What sets this nettle apart is just how savage its sting can be. The sting of the Gympie Gympie is so excruciating it has come to be known as the suicide plant as it is said that horses will throw themselves off a cliff rather than suffer the pain.”
__
“If you have ever wondered where the term “a buck”, meaning money, comes from the answer harkens back to a time when deer ran rampant over parts of North America. The animal was so common that their skins were used as currency and thus was born the phrase.”
…What are you writing? XD
I store stuff like this in my head for incidentals: filler.
Like if you want to insult a guy who talks about you being alone, it’s “Look, Hertz 52, the fish in the sea can’t hear you when you’re this lame.” This one, I can see using it for NaNo.
If you want to foreshadow a machine injury, make someone left-handed.
Black market Tiger bones being sold back to China from Texas farming.
Idiot finds a bomb, holds the world hostage.
“May you be buried like a King: explosively, and may the dogs eat what’s left behind.”
Things like this. I don’t stuff a story full of the , but oddball things do pop up from time to time.
…I have no response
