it’s just the beginning of the end mwahahaha rubs mantis hands
oof, i had that last month. mild head cold, joint/spine pain in my neck and shoulders. it was gone in like a week so hopefully yours clears up fast too.
A couple things have happened since I last posted. In terms of good news, it’s finally summer break, and I managed to finally finish chapter 6 (15k words) yesterday after taking around two and a half months to write it. Also, in more irl news, I managed to do a lot better than I expected on my physics finals, which I’m really proud at myself for since I initially had difficulties in understanding the subject. Unfortunately, the bad news is that my computer battery completely died yesterday (my computer just stopped charging and it had been warning me to get a replacement for a while now), and because the repair time will take around a week, I doubt that I’ll be able to make much progress with writing since it’s pretty difficult to write on my tablet. But I’ve got ideas about how I want to open my new chapter and am excited to continue making progress.
LOL!
The lung part is closer to two weeks, but then I tend to catch a bacterial sinus infection in the middle of a viral one. The aches was just really closer to 4 says.
To me, it would make sense if it was the newest (very weak) strain since some variation of inflammation is what caused a good deal of the deaths (an inflamed heart goes into cardiac arrest). But there were more symptoms than this to the others, and I never spiked a high fever.
The strain dad caught about 2 months back didn’t show up in the home test, and a doctor it swabbed him because of the active fever. They’re not fully checking for this anymore.
As usual, it aggravated him because he’s had far worse colds and he’s in his 60s, the right age to catch it hard. So, I’ve been treating it cautiously alothough it’s been spreading through the schools from what the kid’s aftercare teacher told me. I wouldn’t matter what this thing is–its too wide-spread. But the pain level it induced would be detrimental to the elderly.
I got caught in the cold rain yesterday, so this past 18 hours I was concerned about a relapse.
That’s why we have 2 blankets on the bed for many years.
Grats on your physics success!
oh yeah if you’re having/had respitory symptoms then it might be the covid or some type of coronavirus since that is what they do. especially in combination with joint inflammation and fever.
what i had was strictly sinus with some help from lymph nodes (because they are spiteful and hate me), and i don’t think it’s feasible that a virus that specifically causes respitory infection would present as a sinus infection with zero respitory symptoms across three different people (my siblings gave it to me).
not to worry, take some nsaid’s for the inflammation and pain and remember to hydrate! it will uproot its evil evil virus protiens and move on.
sorry you’re sick though :u that sucks
Why are writing descriptions so hard! I realized looking back on my poetry, and what I consider my “best” writing, I’m a lot more descriptive. I think at some point, I thought I was too descriptive, and started to cut a lot of it out. I would just say things plainly versus trying to flourish everything? Now it’s the opposite. Too stripped. So I’m trying to put a little flourish back in my final chapters, and my brain wanted to work for poetry month, but now it’s on strike. (sigh) Do people like reading descriptions of environments, people, clothes etc.?
It’s almost over.
I can help!
What details are the most important?
I have a fanfic idea.
For me descriptions work best whenever the characters enter a new environment.
Try to add descriptions by having the characters interact with the setting during the scene.
Don’t stop the story to describe things.
When it doesn’t break the narrative. So, for me, it’s short bursts with larger backdrops before each major scene.
Also, guess who dropped a few club duties to be able to write more? Like, yeah, I will miss people reading Lone Werewolf, but I just need time to write so much! I started a fantasy story ‘on the side’ just to have a bit of an outlet at some point. It just would bug me hugely if someone else writes something like that. I suspect it is niche marketable. If I finish it, I will try workshopping it.
Overall though, I want to focus on my WIP
Hmm, trying to describe the city during its racing Grand Prix, the celebrations/festivities. Also trying to describe a dress. I just can’t describe anything today lol
Do you need photos to help? I find that is helpful for me!
Or you can go to @Novel_Worm 's thread about Characterization and Description.
I am kinda freaking out but I think I am ready to start a conversation with my husband about leaving my job to write full time. It is scary, because I worked through my first degree, I TA’d through my MSc, and I started to work full time before I even finished my thesis. Literally, in my life since 17, in 30 years, I barely had 2 years not working, with immigration and my kid. But I feel that right now, I actually missing my last chance to write. I can’t wait 10 more years till I retire properly. I am starting to make lousy job because I don’t have time to edit as much as I should and I want to write my other books. I am desperate for more time to be a writer, even a failed one!
Is part time or consulting an option in your field?
I’d love to make that type of decision so I’m a bit jealous that I’m not there yet.
Besides the tips I got from one reader, I don’t get paid for this.
And my work currently provides affordable health insurance for my family.
I keep telling myself I want to work here, but it sucks so much because I know how much I could write if I didn’t (I wrote a TON when unemployed).
If not for the insurance, I would seriously consider branching out into my own part-time business. I could do some light web development, or who knows what, just while building some book backlog. But there are disadvantages to that too. It might turn out that this side business would take up so much of my time and energy, I’d end up in the same situation.
So I’m trying to make this work. Sigh. It all comes down to money, doesn’t it?
This one? An exercize in Characterization and Description I’ll take a look. Thanks.
