Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 2)

it takes practice. my first edits weren’t great, but they got better. you gotta remember that everyone starts at the beginning, and like, if you ever watch videos of youtubers reacting to their old content, they’re always like “oh this was so cringe but it’s amazing how far the channel has come since then”. So you know, you’re gonna be cringe at first too but you’ll get better if you stick with it.

Thanks so much. I’ve always been hard on myself when I shouldn’t. It is really defeating.

I remember watching a few of his videos years ago.

I will allow this. It is quick and simple and I don’t care at the moment.

Thanks, buddy!

I am going to log out and relax in my bed because writing at my desk while sitting on my chair is annoying at the moment.

My package has not arrived yet and I need to be comfortable as I am writing for periods of time.

So, over and out for now!

Does anyone else have this issue where they have limited time to write, but by the time you sit down, you have to read at least a chapter of what you already have to “get in the zone” before writing new stuff after? But then you run out of time to write by the time you “refresh your memory” on what you already have?

Like why can’t I just dive in and write. I always have to read some before. It’s like I take one step forward, and two steps back. Maybe it’s an ADHD thing or just a plain adult thing. Can’t remember jack sh*t so I have to read my own stuff to get into that zone before I can add anything new.

Find an app that will read it out loud for you and have it play while you eat supper or ride home, so that you have refreshed during other times.

Yes, I get like that unless I’m writing episode-dominant. For example, Maysie’s Galaxy is mostly following this kid’s growth after finding a sinkhole on earth. Who and what she is at age 7 has nothing to do with the chapter that covers year 5 or 2 or 10. So I have much less need to keep her ture to herself because she’s ever-changing.

A new story idea:

Summary

A young princess escapes from her death and wanders aimlessly searching for a way to restore her family and put an end to the madness that is affecting her kingdom. She stumbles upon a man and woman who happen to be two underrated superheroes searching for a purpose of their very own. These form a unlikely bond and become a family even as their country and the world test them to no end. Even as the princess wishes to change her kingdom and avenge her family’s mysterious death along with figuring out how it happened, she finds that her new parents are just wonderful yet they are able to help her.

Yet when she completes her goal, will the princess be able to return to her old life or leave it all to stay with two strangers who are better than they think they are?

New Red Reign:

Summary

A young man has been living underground with his mother who is gravely ill. She eventually dies leaving the young man to enter his own journey to locate the whereabouts of his father who left him, but took his brother away. Yet the young man endures many obstacles as he searches for his father and brother who are somewhere on the Surface World. The young man end up going the Knighthood Federation to truly begin his search. However, when the awakening of strange powers and some mysterious memories makes him a target to the Knighthood Federation and a mysterious crimson-skinned race, he finds himself running to gain answers from people who knows more than him and from being captured. Eventually, he’ll meet his father and his brother again, only the meeting will not be pleasant or happy. Apparently, his father knows more than he should which means that this young man’s life could potentially be a giant lie.

I’m done for now.

I always edit a little before writing, unless I am primed. I am not sure if it works for you, but I often turn over the ‘starter paragraph’ in my head while I am commuting, or walking, or in the gym until I get home and can start writing. Lately, I also started using focus music when I write and it is really helping my concentration. I use Haldon Music on YouTube, it has lots and lots of solid classic music mixes.

Hmm, I haven’t thought of that. Do the reading apps sound weird/robotic or? Guess I’ll have to find out.

I think that’s part of my problem. I go back to do a little editing before I start writing new stuff. When you say “primed” you mean? Are you saying you plan the starter paragraph ahead of time so you don’t need to read backwards?

I suspect some of them are better than others, but it’s my father and brother who use them, not me.

Yes. When I am finishing work for the day, I think ahead of what will be next and keep it in mind, mull over it whenever I can. If I don’t have that, then I edit for a while. Usually, I have a burning writing or reading task that I just have to do when I finally get to my ‘me’ time. Gym, swimming, skating all are great times for me to think ahead about how I would start writing that day.or if I wake up too early.

I haven’t written anything in two or three days and I am not happy about it.

I still don’t know where to be begin with Red Reign/The Breakers. Plus, I still need to finish Red Blizzard and start another story too.

I need a damn schedule for my story or something.

Yup…still no writing done.
However, I am thinking of it which really means nothing since I am not putting things into action. So, I am letting my mind wander a bit for my stories.

I just need to actually start writing.

Imagination days are still necessary.

I suppose so. LOL!

I’m more concerned with the “I’m gonna mentally beat myself up for not writing” when it’s a meandering brain day which helps you to get pieces of the story straight before you write. Very few find their fingers typing before their brain is engaged.

So a different viewpoint of days nothing gets done is a health benefit.

Makes sense. Thank you.
I shall chill out and stop dwelling on the matter. LOL!
