I am done with chapter 9 of part 2 in Red Reign and my god is everything happening so fast and a bit awkwardly.
I know I can change things and have things make sense much later, but it is still interesting.
Spoiler:
The Princess of Movaria’s stepfather is apparently a piece of shit who didn’t tell Rora the full story about her mother’s disappearance.
So, there are plenty of purely racist people in Movaria and they don’t judge by skin tone or species, but rather they dislike other people form other nations coming into Movaria to make it their home.
Rora has been lied to and her stepfather is a secretly a horrible man, paying foreigners to be executed in secret.
Gotta start chapter 10 soon-ish.
Someone is going to die, while others are going to be scarred, and one or two people who unravel a disturbing truth about themselves…sorta.
What kind of discussion is going to depend on how deeply affecting those deaths are, but yes, some small things would have to be addressed along the way at the least.
My heart bled for Princess Rora and Celinda both. I wasn’t expecting to make things like that.
I wonder what will happen next for Rora and the Kingdom of Movaria.
Dazumin has a son from his other marriage, who takes over.
There’s a chance I might go back to Movaria, but that will be way later into the story either in book 1 or book 2.
That’s it I’m tired! Time for a well-deserved break!
I REALLY want to start chapter 11 of part 3 in Red Reign!
Really want to so badly! However, breaks are good and that is something I need to realize and understand.
Finishing chapter ten of part 2, completely conked me out physically!
I keep forgetting my limits when I am in the zone/hyperfocused like that, is NOT healthy.
Not to brag but I have more than ten finished drafts in various levels of “finished” Some need a few edits, while others might need a rewrite, while others I feel are as done as I can get them to be.
I think part 3 should focus on the characters and getting to know them a bit more while relaxing sorta.
Because the next five chapters in part 4 is going to be a rollercoaster.
Part 2 was a hell of a rollercoaster to me.
The characters need time to recover, get explored, and other things during part 3, but part 4 is where things get a bit crazy and things get revealed…part 5 too.
I decided to rename an Elgana race. It was a placeholder name anyway.
Halfhumans were the half bipedal animal, half human races that came about after Humans came to Elgana and integrated the native Elganians into their society (mostly by force). But “Halfhuman” sounds like they are mostly Human and maybe look like centaurs or something, but most cases, they really are a mixture of having animal-like features and being Humans.
And I was thinking maybe the ones that name them are the Humans. Because the Humans do create a integration program to try a friendlier approach and have Humans and Elganians get to know and even fall in love with each other to create a whole new society.
And when I think of the Humans who are us in the future, what word would we use to describe them?
We would probably take from what we know (mythology) and it would also be super simple.
I’ve decided to call them Hybrids.
I remember when I first started to write an Elgana story back in 2016, I had some kind of strong urge to not use “hybrid” and come up with my own original term—that ended up confusing people for years
