Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 2)

Haha! That’s almost punny for some reason. LOL!

I am done with chapter 4, part 5 of Project Succession at 3992 words!
I will start chapter 5, part 1 tomorrow!

I am tired and that chapter was somewhat heavy in reveals and secrets.
Aeris is learning more and so are the others who are closer to her.

In hindsight, I finished chapter 20.

No writing today, but there’s tomorrow or Saturday to get started.

I have had a lot of writing and illness to cover this past 3 months, but I’m likely to not write much at all until this next school year starts.

I really want to finish this bonus chapter preferably by the end of winter because it is actually important but I’m not sure how much luck I will have because of work and all this medical stuff reeeeeee

I am done with chapter 5, part 1 at 4044 words!

The next part will be a flashback so it may be longer than the last part.

I am super excited to reveal what Princess Oristina was like. By the way, Oristina is Aeris’s deceased mother.

Making content for IG, I just re-read this passage and…Celeste is awful. Somehow, I was able to create a terrible character based on the toxic influencers online. Especially the kinds that twist people’s words all the time.

“Sorry for her?” Celeste said as if it was the most outlandish thing she had ever heard. “Sweetie, she is making you suffer. Her dementia is her problem, and something she should feel sorry about herself and go down her own rabbit hole by herself. Do you remember telling me how your mom has trouble sleeping worrying and feeling sorry for her dementia mother?”

Eryn nodded slowly, dreading how Celeste was going to somehow twist everything in her favor and make it hard to disagree.

“She’s fallen down the rabbit hole. I’m trying to protect you from that, Eryn. If you go down, who’s going to save you?”

“I thought you—”

Gawd, Eryn.” Celeste curled her lip. “You’re going to make your best friend suffer in your rabbit hole?”

Eryn shook her head. She didn’t mean for it to sound like that. “No, I thought because we’re friends—”

“Stop. As a friend, I’m telling you right now you have to trust me. Don’t feel sorry for someone else’s sorrow and suffering. Look at all the bad news on TV. If you spent all your time worried about all the people in the world, you’ll fall down the deepest rabbit hole, and honey, my rope won’t be long enough to drag you out. This is to protect yourself, Eryn Maryanna Kingsly.”

From Project Succession:

Oristina (Aeris’s mom) hates Alcoy(Aeris’s dad) and the thought of her mother making him her bodyguard.

Done with the first part of the flashback arc for Oristina and Alcoy who are Aeris’s parents.

The next chapter is going to be interesting. :slightly_smiling_face:

Maybe you’ll find places to expand?

Yup! This book is less than half finished, so there’s plenty of room for expanding. I’m starting the saggy middle now. (>‿◠):v:

I haven’t written an actual draft in a long time. I’ve stuck in worldbuilding. I’ve been using chatgpt to talk to about my story (NOT WRITE) and to discuss my characters. Its actually really really helpful like googling but quicker. It can help me put together a good solid character in just an hour.

With its help in bouncing ideas back n forth I’ve written the first two chapters in almost a year. I know almost everyone hates AI because people are using it to write and make ‘art’ without effort. Its too bad bc its a nice tool to have.

I would like to have AI help me out a bit with writing, but I have zero interest in publishing my novels and am only doing this for me.

So, yeah, maybe I will use AI to assist a little bit…maybe.

You should. It can keep track of so many things. You can just sit there and spill out a bunch of information that isn’t even in order and then ask it to put it in order when youre done. I just start typing out a thousand different things about characters and how they interact and then have them organize it into a character sheet. Hours of work done in minutes.

Maybe you don’t know what you want to happen in your random zombie book when someone walks into a hospital thats been abandoned. You ask the chat to come up with 30 different ideas. Boom immediate ideas that you can get inspiration from. And they’re so basic that you could have gotten it from any one of your friends.

Also it can give you websites for things you might want to find out. It can make little simple graphs for you. It knows what clothes come from what era. Things you might spend a long time looking up.

If you are thinking about having characters do something one way but you also want them to do something else you can have chat write up a couple examples from a summary and then you can decide if they sound good.
