Been writing the first book of my low fantasy series. I seem to be completely ignoring the plot I made because I have decided the plot sucks so am making this up as I go UNTIL I GET TO A VERY IMPORTANT PART. So yeah, that’s been fun

I’m considering creating a corrupt politician character called Francis or something in AAD, and have the main characters shred him to bits. It’ll make me feel better XD

At least, for me, that is. Do you find it easy or hard to edit or write action scenes?

I just finished the action scene (and another chapter), so good timing!
I find that my writing flows faster during action scenes thanks to that little “hype kick” I get during it. Like I get so immersed in the scene that it sort of comes “naturally” in a sense?
Is it weird that I like “farting all over my stories” if it adds to it and actually turns out better?

I went back to my Oz inspired story after not editing it for like a few years and found this gem. MC Glint is a light mage who sees the world a little cynically. He meets a boy who has a pet dog named Toto. Toto is lost and then found again. The scene is like when Charlie Brown reunites with Snoopy.
Glint is like:
I might just shrivel up and die from this unnecessary drama, he scowled. What was it with people and pets?

‘It’s gonna be a silly little book,’ I said. ‘Zero effort, pure sh— and giggles. A little side quest to be done within a month easy,’ I said.
A month later I’m still on four-thousand words of chapter one, knee-deep in research, living and breathing these scenes all times of the day. Now I’ve taken it upon myself to add poetry! Not just any poetry, oh no that won’t do! Roman love poetry in elegant meter, 40ish lines a pop! As if that wasn’t enough to tackle, I’m also illustrating the book myself: eight full plates.
What have I got myself into? Every morning I step out and shake my fists up at the sky. What have I got myself into?!!

No writing nor reading fiction novels, just stress and other bullshit related to my mental health.
I am struggling so hard to stay focused and anything else. I am writing, it is more note taking than actual chapter writing which is something I really want to do, along with reading some books. My mental health and constant distractions are horrid as of lately.
I am journaling more often these days. I just want to write a freaking novel. Unfortunately, I can’t even will myself to write a short story, which I should start with first.
Ugh! I am so pissed yet I can’t let myself get that way!

I started doing this Story Map thing as suggested by my editor. She told me how I could go about making one. It’s been an interesting exercise so far and it is really helping me understand who is doing what and where because I have an omniscient story with multiple characters. Once I get more done maybe I’ll talk about it.
Has anyone heard of a Story Map (if you have, it might be different, so do also explain)?

Sounds familiar…? But maybe I’m confusing story map with mind map since I can’t find anything about story maps online, and I have no idea how to make a story map. ¯\_(ﭢ)_/¯
