Chapter 16 for Project Red is going slow in a way, but things are starting to pick up in a bit.
Not much writing progress to report, but I did finish reading a novel today! It was a fairly short fantasy/adventure read by a local author.
I’m done with chapter 16 for Project Red and that was a long chapter.
This took way too long for me to finish.
Wanna start a new story while working on Project Red.
Thinking about doing Project Succession at some point.
Share: I’ve decided that I will be working on two different series starting the end of this year
I know it sounds like a lot, but let me explain ![]()
So the series that I’m currently prioritizing is the Gifted Blood trilogy, which is also the one that I’ve been talking about lately. For the past few years I’ve been focusing on writing the first book, and only updating that book, especially with how much of a time sink college was.
But I graduated college this year!
Therefore, I have more time to write.
The other series that I’ll be working on is the Other Realms series, which some of you might’ve heard of
it’s the series that’s undergoing a massive rewrite—and expansion—after initially posting it in 2015. I’ve rewritten and completed the first two books, and the teaser for the third book is currently up.
What’s interesting is that both series are very different from each other. The Other Realms series is a YA portal fantasy set partly in 2010s Earth and told in third person multiple. The third book in particular will mainly be through the lens of a laidback teenager studying to enter music school. The Gifted Blood trilogy is a dark NA fantasy set in a semi-futuristic world that is not Earth and written in third person omniscient. The first book mainly follows an amnesiac in his twenties as he navigates a dangerous world, and his mentor may or may not be the same age and also highly traumatized.
Quite the tone change, but I know I can handle it just fine! Who knows? Maybe the constant switching will help with writing inspiration and keeping things fresh ![]()
Progress: I was previously stuck on Chapter LVIII of Blood Will Tell, but I’ve reached more than 1200 words so far
that’s about halfway to my target word count per chapter! I don’t want to jinx myself but I hope I’ll be able to finish this chapter soon. Fingers crossed that Act II will wrap up sooner rather than later ![]()
This first draft that I’m working on for Project Red is not only me writing and getting a feel for the story, but more so me writing down certain events and situations that I can add in the second draft.
I’ve come to the conclusion that maybe I do better with taking my second draft and making it the final draft with some serious editing and sorting things out. Thank goodness I got ProWritingAid to help me out for the second draft.
I am very close to ditching the first draft and just starting the second draft. Yet a part of me won’t do that because I want to see the first draft completed to the end.
I just want to make this draft better and I am slowly running out of ideas for this draft in a way.
Not going to lie things are still going great, but it could be so much better. I am going to continue with the first draft though I am slowly getting bothered by it. I don’t know, I am debating on what to do.
The story has changed a lot with the plot and even the characters. It’s not the same story anymore in terms of one aspect of it.
I don’t even know what to do.
Do I continue with the first draft then move onto the second draft or stop the first draft then revamp it to how it should be?
I could make the first draft short as I got some things down for the second draft.
Guys, I’m struggling to figure out what to do.
Knows November’s writing challenge is brutal and not possible with my work schedule and writing speed
Signs up anyway
Day two in realizing it on average takes me between 2-4 hours to write the daily word count and this is not sustainable for workdays
100% too stubborn to admit defeat
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Hoping it will get easier once I’m farther established with the story???
When you say first draft and second draft, do you mean you write the whole story over from the beginning for the second draft? Or do you mean you reread the whole story and just edit it for the second draft?
When I plan to write the second draft, it will be a much different story, though I am still following some things from the first draft.
I don’t plan, at all, and so when I started this project I had no idea what it was. Chapter 2 done, and it’s a romance! All fine. Except I want it to have werewolves, for they are very cool. GAH. Guess it’s a werewolf romance.
I’ve been thinking about the cover for Project Red and wondering what design will go great for the book. I don’t know which cover is going to work.
My vision is to get it done by an expensive professional, but budget wise I really want to do it myself and have it capture some type of vision.
I don’t know.
Looks like me going to write nights is paying off in ways I didn’t expect. One of my newest friends texted me a while ago asking if I knew any places in the city that served authentic Indonesian food, and I told him of one restaurant I knew that was also pretty close to public transit. We met on Monday as usual and followed up on that. He asked me if I’d be open to going there for lunch with him, since he was unfamiliar with the cuisine and it is from my culture after all. I replied that I’d love to, but I was a job-seeker with no money. He went, “Well, I have a job…”

it’s just like this meme!
On a similar note, this other writing buddy of mine just moved into the neighborhood, and I asked him if he needed anything for his apartment. I told him that I did have some stuff in my storage unit that I could give him if he didn’t have it yet, to which he expressed gratitude. He’s still in the process of moving stuff into his new apartment and doesn’t have the clearest idea of what he lacks other than the big stuff, but told me he should have a better idea of what he needs by next week.
It was also someone else’s first time going to write night earlier this week, and it was fun! We exchanged phone numbers and are probably going to meet again on Saturday. She’s in product design, which is sort of related to what I’ve done in my studies, so I might ask her more about the company she works for and see if I can get a job there ![]()
I got to revamp Project Red after I figured out what I wanted the plot and story to be about.
Day 7 of November writing shenanigans, hit 10.5k words, realized this story is a lost cause and am restarting. Proud of the discipline, but it just wasn’t going to work out.
I haven’t been writing because I’ve been dealing with moving.
2025 word on my new story. Im liking this one a lot more! If i dont fall asleep when i get home ill try to squeeze a bit more in
*update hit 2600 on a roll
When you’re finally getting really into writing again and superrrrr motivated but realize you’re an adult now. And have to go to do adult things on your weekend then go back to work for another 5 days before you get one really good day to work on your projects.

I’ve finished chapter 20 of Project Red.
I’ve decided to stick with this draft because I really hate to leave it undone. Though chapter 21 is when I change the story in a different direction.
It is the first draft and I can have it not make sense along with being all over the place.
It’s the second draft when I take things seriously and have an idea of where I want the story to go.
That’s all I have to say.
Finished Chapter 28 of THFAS and now past the turning point of the story! All that’s left are the consequences of that and the lead-up to the finale
How many chapters will that take? No idea
