I was able to get through chapter seven by rewriting it again. Though I’m not done, it was nice to redo it all over again.

Nice! Having this click for me this year, where I understood drafts doesn’t necessarily mean “scenes” full of description, dialogue etc. in perfect chronological order helped me a lot. Gave me permission to just write bullets in places or even questions for myself, and move on so I don’t get stuck.

I officially started draft 2 of my prequel. Which is really just a copy and paste of my first draft with permission for me to delete whatever I don’t need and to re-visit where I haven’t written scenes yet, and actually write them. Still haven’t written the ending scenes fully even though I know how I want them to go because I know I’m gonna cry.

Oooh, I’ve done that before too! A zero draft, I think it is, where half of my draft just turns into a screenplay and the rest is a bunch of bullet list notes. (*＾-‘) 乃

That advice to re-write instead of edit is right. I originally copied my first draft into the second, but once I removed everything beyond the first few chapters that I knew were staying, viewing both drafts in split screen, the chapters came pouring out of me. Wrote a lot today! Not sure how long that streak will last, but I won’t complain!

I want to print out my chapters in physical form then rewrite it in third person.
It will kill me to keep writing in first person. And I am ten chapters into the story and over 32k as well.
Thank goodness I am not fifty or more words in, but still.

I’m going to continue with the story in first person.
I would be lying if I said that this wasn’t a serious yet interesting challenge for me.

I’ve decided to conduct an experiment on outlining with my next book. I finally finished the first book of my series just this past week, and now I’m starting the second book. The first was almost totally pantsed; the second will be totally outlined first. Then I’m going to see once and for all which method is superior, if either one, and how to combine the two methods for optimum productivity, since I suspect plantsing is the best method of all.
I started the first book in January of this year, so it took me almost a year to write this book. I’m guessing that outlining first will make that process go faster. We’ll see! ヽ(^。^)丿
