Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 2)

Going to try to write as many words as possible in 30 min and try to get to bed early.

See you in 30 min.

I’m gonna do an hour sprint lol

Well, I am not trying to sell, but I see your concern there if the agents are tired of people pitching the ‘x’ or ‘but’ formulas like Assassins’ Creed only with Werewolves! Spartacus but gay! (my taglines). But that’s not something unusual. It was always hard to make a book, any book, sound like the Book.

But, yeah, I am not going to talk about things I don’t know anything about.

Off Topic: I was FINALLY able to do complete a task that should’ve been done a month ago. I am so lazy that it is terrible and rather pathetic. I am glad I got my ass up and actually did it and it was a nice day today too.

On Topic: I need to actually write something, but I was able to settle on four stories rather than five or more. I have options now and it feels good.

Look at my poorly done collage that I made for the first time.
These are my four projects that I must work on only. If I get other ideas. I am writing it down and pushing it to the side.

Look at my collage:

It is so terribly simple, but I love it! LOL!

NOTE: I have the collage as my desktop wallpaper. Teehee!

Can someone tell me why I am writing a 19 year old with a full ginger beard stealing a bike in this story? :joy:

That actually sells me, lol.

I wouldn’t even know how to pitch it that simply.

I think the simplest I can do is Science fantasy drama with a touch of gay romance.

Ugh. Comps are so hard!
It’s cool like Arcane but only half-serious like Good Omens and adorable like Heartstopper but with domestic drama like My Sister’s Keeper.

:joy: There you go. My #pitmad pitch right there.

I just realized that there aren’t many male AuthorTubers.
Why is that?

I have no answer

When it comes to Author/WriterTube, we seriously need some diversity in genders and race and genres.

Just saying.

I always think of Terrible Writing Advice as being more than just an authortube channel.

A rant about my experience today at an art gallery:

I’ve come to the conclusion I hate art bros and babes. So obnoxious. What’s really awful is that I run in the same circles as them. I’d like to think I have self-awareness at least.

I was at an art gallery today, which was showing refugee portraits. The art bros and babes were talking about contemporary portraiture, how it’s so dull and doesn’t capture the subject’s personality. Because portraits are only partially the person, the other part are objects and symbols that surround that person. Most of the refugee portraits didn’t have any objects. Some had maybe a bed, a bin bag and kitchen cabinets. At some point they started comparing Thomas Cromwell’s portrait to the refugee portraits.

I was like oh my god, do you hear yourself? Is there anything in your brain? Anything? The whole point of the exhibition is that refugees are living in houses or centres that act as prisons.

If I were going by the bad take that they don’t have ‘personality’ I’d say of course they don’t! They are an invisible population! Read the goddamn Foucault you keep on your shelves to make yourself look cool. I can out-art bro any of these posers.

Anyway the exhibition was cool.

Kind of stuck on the whole writing situation. Need to talk to people. I keep missing my writing group meet ups.

Also been looking at a lot of fantasy maps lately. The Hyborian Age kinda slaps. It’s technically our world but maybe that’s what makes it good.

Pick one or two, not all of them. And if it doesn’t fit exactly, that’s the nature of the beast. Lone Werewolf has Assassins’ Creed and Peter Pan in it, but I would pick AC for first book and Peter Pan for the second, if I had to. Overall though, I’d go with AC because it’s cooler.

Champion in love is ‘alt history portal fantasy lgbtq drama’ if I had to shove in absolutely everything it is, and there is no grandiose rebellion. But the guy is a barbarian gladiator and he is defeated. So… Spartacus it is.

I have a story that can be described as Final Fantasy Four with characteristics of Netflix Cartoon shows, like Voltron.

Qualeshia: Please introduce yourself.

Demetrius: I will in a bit.

Qualeshia: Okay-

Demetrius: After you come to my party.

Qualeshia: Sure…wait…WHAT PARTY???

Demetrius: My family is having this fancy party which I rather not go, but I have to.

Qualeshia: Party? All I wanted was for you to introduce yourself to me.

Demetrius: Trust me! You’ll understand and get to know me.

Qualeshia: …

Literally what I go through with this character. ALL! THE! FREAKING! TIME!
