Movie buffs help me out, I need to write a movie recommendation for my horror film class tomorrow and cyberpunk horror fits the themes of the class and the instructions for the assignment, but I have literally never watched a cyberpunk horror and I need suggestions.
Importantly I’m looking for biotech, robotics, AI, ect. not cosmic space (so not Alien)
I have some ideas, listed below, but I’m hesitant about them:
Ex-Machina (not technically horror, a lot of reviewers commented on the slowness of the plot and the amount of sexuality)
eXistanZ (we already covered a Kronenberg film in class and the professor has referenced eXistanZ a couple times)
I watched Titane this evening and it’s actually not as bad for sexually explicit material as I thought. There’s a lot of female nudity but a large portion of it is highlighting the horror/body horror of pregnancy. That being said, we already covered feminine abjection in horror (with another film by this same director!) and I’m supposed to be suggesting a movie that addresses a topic we haven’t dug up yet.
thinking exiztenz or tetsua II: Body Hammer might be the best bet for the arguement I’m trying to make, and Tetsua is a “hyperviolent” 90s Japanese body horror so… you know, the professor did imply he was looking for bad movies, maybe it fits?
