The bullet list is going to be either 5 or 10 things that are crucial to the chapter parts/chapters. The brief summary, should be brief and not so lengthy. Just a small paragraph, that is no more than four or five sentences.
I just made this outline. I have not started it yet, so do not ask if I started using it, I WILL start using it.
Where I am going with this thread is that I went from despising trying to do an outline to giving myself another shot! I don’t even know myself anymore, sometimes, seriously I don’t.
I can’t really judge it and say if it’s wrong or right or judge/have an opinion on it because outlines are personal things, tailored to your own story. But if it works for you, all the power to you.
The one I made on Google Docs is WAY BETTER though the written example helped me out.
Sorry for not being clear enough. I really wanted to talk about the fact that I even bother to even think about outlining in the first place, when I am so allergic to it.
And yes you are right, nothing is said and done until I start it.
I’ve heard a lot of people say they used to pants everything and then had more success when they switched to outlining, but I’ve never heard anyone say they used to outline but have more success now that they pants. I too need to strengthen my outline for my current work. Hope yours works well for you! ٩(˘◡˘)۶
I hope it helps you. I found that making an outline, even just a loose one, helped me a great deal, even though I didn’t want to at all when I first started writing. I thought pantsing was the way to go but when I finally caved and tried an outline it made things a lot easier and more productive for me. I hope it does the same for you. I’m proud of you for trying.
