I just did some research in finding out when I exactly started Project Succession!
Before it was Project Succession, it was Project Summoner (if you remember) then I changed it to Project Succession. And went on with the story from there.
Yet judging by what I wrote in my journal, documenting what I’ve done story wise, my strides in Project Succession kick when I hit 40K in April of this year.
However, I didn’t start getting serious with Project Succession till some time in February or March OF THIS YEAR!!!
I finished this first draft on June 10. Let that sink in! I FINISHED MY VERY FIRST DRAFT THAT IS OVER 115K WITHIN A FIVE MONTH SPAN!!! THAT IS SO INSANE OF ME TO EVER DO!!!
I NEVER THOUGHT I FINISHED A NOVEL THAT FAST!!! I am scared and so damn proud of myself for that.
To me it’s insane, but I think it was Stephen King who said in his book on writing that he finishes a draft in a season, meaning three months. Now, his books are shorter than yours, yes, but that’s still insane to me. How anyone can finish a draft within a year is simply amazing. My books are always less than 400 pages and I just can’t do it.
I can’t remember how it took me to finish House of Naivin, but that story gave me mixed feelings.
I can’t tell if it was shorter or longer than Project Succession, yet it felt longer to me than that story or it might’ve been around the length and time of Project Succession.
Did you save your draft of House of Naivin? If you’re not completely happy with it, you could always rewrite it as a sequel or prequel to Project Succession, and add it to the series. ¯\_(ﭢ)_/¯
I remember the first time I wrote 50k for NaNo, I realized, hey, I CAN write 50k.
I also remember, many NaNos after, I wrote 50k in two weeks once. That told me, hey, I can write 50k in two weeks, wait, I can do two NaNos in one month if I wanted to, not that I would. But crazy ability unlocked!
That is quite an accomplishment! My book isnt that long and it took me closer to a year to finish a draft. So it’s definitely pretty crazy that you did that, but in a good way. I think it’s awesome!
You have achieved so much in such a short time, breath in your personal success… And deeply sigh with relief also… Then focus your mind… Focus your mind upon where and what to do next,
Probably those damn edits, eh?.. Still, you have done so well and for that you should indeed be both thoughtful, and pleased in equal measure…
