I didn’t take a screenshot. A red highlighted message appeared below the text box, saying something along the lines of “you’ve exceeded the word count” even though the counter beneath the box said 995

I can’t seem to reproduce the issue, I’ve submitted up to 999 words without any errors. Can you try again and screenshot what you’re submitting? I’m trying to figure out what’s setting off the counter.

I got it to work this morning. I had to delete the text, paste it without formatting, and then re-add the italics in afterward.
I was copying the chunk of text over from Google docs.

Oof yeah Google docs has a weird copy/paste issue. They almost embed the formatting in the form of text. Anytime I copy/paste from there I inevitably have to fix something lol.

Alright! I tried Lizardclaw’s method twice, and it didn’t work either.

Can you look at the “text” tab on the right side there and see if there is extra “invisible” code? If you’re pasting over from Google docs, it’s frequently found there.
Even pasting as text only doesn’t always get rid of it.
