The Search for the Limits of Reader Tolerance!

I have been wondering where the general limit is for a female main character in a first person pov YA novel for tolerance/likability.

I keep seeing people complain about how harshly female characters are judged but I have never experienced it myself. It could be due to my obscurity , but maybe I’m just that good at crafting likable characters. I wish to ask.

I’m not really an “any camp” writer, so some of arguments make me yawn.

People just hate Dr. Frankenstein

Well, he’s the monster. The whole point was to have him blend into that era and be unveiled as inhuman: liking him too much isn’t healthy. I mean that’s Feminist Anthem to it’s core, when you think about the roles in society of that time.
