Topic 10: Culinary Culture
What do they eat, and where do they get it from?
Culture, but specifically food. I like to bring up meal scenes in my stories because it’s a good time for characters to sit down and get to know each other, and each other’s culture. Maybe the local food is weird, or maybe there’s some surprising similarities.
But when you think about food, you might also think about harvest and imports. Are there things they like to eat but which they can’t grow there? Or, are they the ones sending out certain foods to certain other places?
If they do eat spaghetti like you do, where does their pasta come from?
