These mock-up book covers are only stating partially what the book is about!

I made three book cove mock-ups for my novel projects that I am working on.

I think that they are interesting and very minimalist, but very to the point in a way.
I LOVE THEM!

See them for yourself!

These are NOT the final ideas for the book covers, just temporary for a while. The way I envisioned it is worlds different from what I can actually do, free and money wise.

I adore these because they aren’t actually speaking the truth, only part of the truth. I am confusing myself and others who will see these book covers as a curiosity and to learn what the stories really are about.

So, those are my mock-up book covers.
Thoughts and feelings?

For the first cover, I immediately thought of the book, Red Queen (which I haven’t read)

It terms of mock-ups, or concept covers I think they’re fine. For actual covers to be published, the titles are going to have to be a lot clearer and brighter.

Those are just some thoughts I had

Gah! I hate how similar they are. I ain’t changing mine.

My book isn’t what Red Queen is which is a YA Romantasy.

Though there are some similarities for very different reasons.

lol
I thought you might not like it, but you can be assured that there were lots and lots of similar books after Red Queen. or, idk if assured is the right word :stuck_out_tongue:

Object based covers are very popular. Crowns on the cover are also really popular.

True.

I read up to some book then stopped at that book then haven’t gone back to finishing. I don’t want to. LOL!

Update: The titles are temporary too! The titles won’t stay that way either as they like the book covers are temporary, but still brings curiosity and are misleading…sorta.

Very nice! (*^-‘) 乃

A book cover doesn’t have to tell the whole story, though. It just has to intrigue the reader into wanting to know more. I’ve often seen book covers for King Arthur that only show a rock, or a sword, or a sword in a rock, or a lake with and without a sword. Anyone who didn’t know the story might say WTF? But they’d likely be intrigued…

In fact, the less you say, sometimes the better. I’ve always loved this book cover for Jaws:

I’ll be honest I don’t think the font and background colours go well together – it’s hard to read the text.

True. I wasn’t even sure which colors would work for the font. I didn’t know if I should use black color font or not.

I have no idea when I will use these mock covers…yet.

Update:

I made a much better one for Project Glorious, which is a combination of Project Bloodline and Project Succession.

I like this one even better than the others, but the color still looks orange to me instead of red. Love the sun and the horizon! (*^-‘) 乃

Seeing you making covers made me want to make covers, but since I don’t have any covers to make for myself, I made this for you for fun. It’s just a concept cover. If you like it, you can keep it, but you can’t use it for commercial publication.

Idk if you like the green, but I had fun adding that contrasting color.
