This new year is bringing a new me with my writing and reading!

Does the challenger in me want to write a novel series? No, not at all. And I don’t need to. I can grow without making every novel into a series. I want to write one novel and move the fuck on to another novel.

I am going to write chunky stand-alone novels, set on my fictional worlds Alagossia and Ezcia, along with Earth. I cannot handle writing a two to nine novel series. In my mind, I ALWAYS see the ending, sometimes the middle, rarely the beginning. I do see it in a series of books, but I genuinely need to just write a stand alone novel with no need for a second or third or any other numbered book.

I want to get better at writing a single story that has a beginning, middle, and ending wrapped up nicely in a stand alone, the plot holes are tackled (the ones that matter), less characters to focus on than too many all at once, and the same world building, lore, and character development/growth.

In terms of reading, I am sticking to doing two or three books a month, whether novels or manga or even manhwa. The genres are in science-fiction and fantasy in many demography. The books will come from the library, Barnes and Noble, or Amazon (if I need something in a pinch).

So, every story I am writing is for one singular novel that is NOT a series. Once I am done with one book of the same story, I don’t want to make a book two or anything else.
Project Magecraft, Project Bloodline, and another unnamed project will all become stand-alone novels.

I just need to understand the pacing and execution of each story. I can also read some stand alone that have no potential to be a series.

A new year is bringing a new me.

I recommend two things: The website Anna’s Archive and to play a table top rpg with friends.

Table top rpg games don’t interest me at all.

What else would you recommend to me?

Welp, standalone novels can be a series too. Wasn’t every Harry Potter book a standalone? I never read them, so I’m not sure.

Anyway, however you want to write your books is the right way, so go for it! Hope you achieve all your goals for the new year. ٩(˘◡˘)۶

No. It was a series with seven books focusing on Harry and his adventures at Hogwarts. Though there are other stories that take place in the world of Harry Potter.
