Uh, I think I know what type of romance I would probably enjoy testing out in novels...

I can only test to see if it is true, and stick with it.

I believe the romance that would suit me, writing wise, are the ones where two characters are already in a relationship to begin with, and life is tesing them on how long they will last or if they will break in the end. Yet if the don’t last in the end there is a chance for something new to start.

Does it mean I will write only romance like that? No…hell no!

I will write my Alagossian novels, but the main character is alright in a relationship with some, and life tests the MC and their partner. There will be characters who are getting relationships or staying single.

Why do it this way? For me personally in my own writing, I rather have something alright set in stone, until problems arise and challenges them.

I know many people don’t go for these stories, they want to see two people get together, not be together already. I only like it that way with other people’s fiction in spades.

Again I am not a romantic.

So, even if the relationship isn’t working out, there is still a chance for something new to start.

Thoughts and feelings?

EDIT: This novel is an experimental project. Chances of me publishing a story with this type of romance is slim, though that could change in the distant future. I have a bunch other novels to focus on and want to see published some day that has zero romance, that could change too possibly. Project DAWN is solely me experimenting by adding some romance in a novel and future novels. I will never write pure romance or pure romantasy or some plot that is forsaken for the power of love. I can add sprinkles of romance here and there, but novels are everything comes first, with romance hidden in the midst of it. So, I am going to explore something writing a novel about already made couples going through a lot with other things coming in between them and their own personal lives. The plot and everything is bigger than them, how will the couples fair in a broken world.

I would rather write stories with romance like that,.

Remember this always.

I would personally rather see people already together instead of all that “will they won’t they” stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

You can still have miscommunication drama, difference in opinion drama, and such even if you are in a stable relationship that you’re fine with. Writers can explore how two people in a stable relationship work through those differences.

Thank you for understanding.

UPDATE: Project DAWN will become this, whichever idea I choose out of the three options.

It’s science-fantasy with SOME romance. Even couples have moments when they don’t do everything together/have some alone time. Life gets in the way of that.

There is an absence of stories about the middle of romantic relationships.

It’s weird that there isn’t. :slightly_frowning_face:

It is likely because the beginning and the end are the most dramatic parts. Look at anything that came after the wake of The Fault in Our Stars. It’s that structure on steroids!

Another segment of “humans being weirdos” on reality TV, huh?

Anybody else?

I think a pre-established romance that explores the complexities of staying together through hardship would actually be very interesting and a breath of fresh air. It would be nice fo see these sorts of romances in stories more.

Thanks. It’s the goal for Project DAWN.

You could always write an ace romance, or one ace character being pursued by someone who isn’t, and the ace showing throughout the novel that they just aren’t interested in that kind of relationship. And the other trying to cope with that. I feel like there aren’t enough ace romances, yanno? But whatever you decide is what you should do. This is your book, so it should bring you joy to work on it. (*^-‘) 乃

I don’t mind the romance I have, but I will put the one you mentioned into consideration.
