UPDATED!! Ask me about characters, magick, setting, and I'll ask you, too

@lowarlo

Pinti is motivated by the fact that lunar magick (what she has) can destroy her enemies who use shadow magick. Kattaluna physical weapons (claws, teeth, knives, spears, etc.) cannot harm their enemies, the shapeshifting shadow beasts. Only magick can. Pinti gets a taste of using her magick against the beasts. If she were stronger, if she had more magick, she could save her kind from the constant fear of their enemies.

This belief drives her to push on throughout the story.

Sorcerer runic tongue is what Sorcerers can use to cast spells. They say the sounds or names of a bunch of runes. Runes will appears as glowing words in the air and merge to create a runic symbol.

Usually the symbol represents what they want to do like, “I want to create a gust of wind to blow sand in my opponent’s eyes” or “I want to make fire that heats up this kettle” or “I want to protect this citizen from harm”. It can really be anything.

But runic tongue is an ancient way of saying spells (and, imagine, if you’re fighting or in a rush, it takes time). These days, Sorcerers don’t even bother naming each rune. They create a merged rune from the start. So, it’s like instead of saying “I want to heal my friend”, they are saying “Iwantohealm’friend” as if it’s one word :stuck_out_tongue:

I kind of have to anthromorphisize them because I don’t know what it is like to have emotions as an eagle or parrot. Love is a complicated emotion, but actions absolutely speak louder than words with these dinos. Putting your life on the line for your friends and family repeatedly is something that is more meaningful than any word in any language.

@anon39043209 Who is Kali Nordi-Atlas? Who is Gisella Atlas-Nordi? Why are their names similar? What are their roles in the story?

Valan doesn’t like Pinti for one sole reason: she wasn’t clan born. The hate lasts for many chapters, but it doesn’t become the main conversation. While he doesn’t like her, he will follow his leader and be a team player. He won’t let his hate get in the way of running the clan.

Shadow magick is the magick that the Ilvagi, the shapeshifting shadow beasts use. It’s a destructive magick in that to use it, things have to be “destroyed”. Usually that takes the form of sacrifice. Ilvagi do sacrificial rituals to strengthen their magick for the day or week depending how much they used. Kind of like recharging it.

It is also destructive in that shadow magick tends to destroy things quickly. It can turn a full-grown tree into ashes in one blow, kill other species in one blow, or destroy buildings with little effort. Disruption is also a part of destruction, so shadow magick can raise the dead (only the Ilvagi, however). But since it needs a considerable amount of energy, only the king can resurrect the dead.

Uhm, I guess so? :stuck_out_tongue: It’s the magick from the moon. A gift from the Lunar Goddess to the faithful Kattaluna centuries ago. It’s the complete opposite of shadow magick as it heals things or regenerates things. However, it cannot resurrect the dead. Kattaluna believe their dead go to the stars and live forever in peace, so resurrecting the dead is seen as destructive. The magick can’t perform that anyway.

In Elgana, there’s Universal. It is the universal language of the world made up of a bunch of Human languages when Humans came to Elgana. Some records show that Humans might have already been speaking a near-complete version of that language.

Each race also has their own dialects and Kattaluna used to have their own language, but it’s mostly dead with only a few words still alive. The Kattaluna also have tailsign which is a sign language using their tails. No one’s bothered to learn it anymore except Pinti and her friends. So, I guess tailsign is hard to master :stuck_out_tongue:

Pretty much haven’t changed. They did move rings, however, keeping the typical “who owns what kind of terrain” the same. Makiista Clan owns the forest, Jurana owns the rocky plains, Prendai owns the river or swamp, and Yajis owns the desert or dry lands.

Nuaka is a desert town. It’s one of the many “pockets of civilization” that exist on the First Ring where Humans mainly occupy. It’s an oasis because well, there were some trees and some body of water, so people built a town around it.

It’s quite rustic and rural. Everything is covered in a layer of orange dust from the sand despite the clear dome over it. People live in houses made of wood and clay. There are many dirt paths winding between houses. There are clotheslines going between houses. Often the scent of roasted meat hovers in the air. The citizens are a rambuctious crowd of mostly Humans living quite simply.

Pinti likes her friends (4) and her family (3). Everyone else, meaning the entire rest of the clan, she tolerates. Out of those, she hates Valan and his close friends. The feelings are mutual.

They’re married. Same-sex couples, depending on the nation, have to have their names like that. They are also Knights in the Knighthood Federation.

Kali is an endearing goof-ball while Gisella is a less exaggerated tsundere.

Gisella is a Machina which is a human-robot capable of wielding misting. Kali is a half Gaian and half Zirken.

Got more questions?

So, I got to know. Where did the humans originate from? Was it Earth? What happened to Earth that caused humanity to leave?

I just need to know.

I don’t know if you’ve mentioned it, but I apologize for repeating.
What makes Pinti not clan born? If she isn’t clan born, then what exactly is she?

@september Hi :blush:

Okay then so, what do the scholar and assistant think of each other? Do they get along? What does the assistant’s family think of the assistant working for the scholar?

What is the technology level like in your fantasy world?

Do any magical creatures live in your fantasy world?

Chardi invented a well using a lever and pully, and she often invents toys for kids, and recreates toys for adults from their childhood. She always loved to create things with her paws since she was little. It helps that her father is a wood-carver and has bits of wood lying around.

Let me go from most spoken to least spoken specifically for the Kattaluna race.

Universal - a mixture of a bunch of Human languages created when Humans first came to the planet centuries ago. It is the common language for everyone.

Kattalunan - the language of the Kattaluna race. These days only the old Kattalunae use it.

Ancient Kattalunan - some words have survived into everyday language and some use it with Universal, but rarely. Is pretty much gone, but there’s still a lot of books written in this language.

Tailsign - A language Kattaluna used to use by signing simple words with their tails. No one uses this today, however, it was translated into Ancient Kattalunan at some point and made into a book. Pinti and her friends use it for simple secret conversation. They’ve translated it into Universal. No one knows what they are talking about. Pretty convenient.

The average Kattaluna will speak Universal, know a little Kattalunan, and maybe the surviving Ancient Kattalunan words. Pinti knows more Ancient Kattalunan and can read it if she takes her time. She learned this because she likes it :stuck_out_tongue:

How does Ruven blackmail Elya? If you don’t want to reveal that, what is Elya’s first impression of Ruven? What is Ruven’s first impression of Elya?

So, if everyone has powers, what kind of powers do they have?

How has the magic become corrupted?

Girl Salt sounds so sweet  So, when Cat attacks, does this kill Erin’s mother?

Does Erin’s mother know about Erin’s powers?

What is Erin’s relationship like with her mother?

Are they main or minor characters in the stories?

What is Gisella’s strength and weakness? How does that contribute or hinder her operations as a Knight in the Knighthood Federation?

Similarly, what is Kali’s strength and weakness? How does that contribute or hinder her operations as a Knight in the Knighthood Federation?

Perhaps. But the birds doing their mating dances comes to mind. There’s also the ones that build nests and decorate them with blue things. I forgot what they’re called. Maybe you have that as an expression of love?

That’s true.

So far, who are the main characters?

Major characters.

Gisella’s weakness is sometimes her personality, since she is snarky and too blunt, and comes off as cold and uncaring to people.

Yet her strength is her loyalty since when she gets to know people better, she is considered a great friend, but it will take some time getting use to her personality a bit.

She’s a High Knight and Kali is too. Their job is to travel to different nations to tackle issues and problems that the nation’s own military can’t resolve on their own.

Kali’s strength and weaknesses is her kindness. She is a bit too kind and affectionate towards people. She is also really goofy and comes off a weird.

Yet when push comes to shove, Kali is protective of the people care about and honestly would do anything to make sure they are safe.

Yes! Earth. Basically us in the future. Overpopulation is what caused it. Too many people. Over capacity to be livable.

Humans, however, did not fully leave Earth. Only some left. They were looking to colonize, but then they found a planet with inhabitants. Well…they tried to go the civil route, but it didn’t last long

Nope, didn’t mention it yet  Pinti is a found child. She was found in the forest by her father. She was abandoned as a baby. Her fur has a little bit of purple in it which none of the other clans have. She can also use lunar magick which is dying or dead in the clans.

All the Kattaluna have a marking on their foreheads which is said to be the place they store their magick. The Ilvagi also have a similar-looking mark on their foreheads, but with one runic symbol in reverse.

Pinti has a mark that has the reverse runic symbol and the normal one. It came to be known as a mirror mark.

So, Pinti isn’t from the clan she grew up with?
I wonder who her real family/clan is?

Nope, she’s not. She doesn’t share traits with any of the four clans of Kattaluna.

Hmm :smirk: I guess you’ll have to wait for the book

Her friends and loved ones.

To not only travel the world, but to locate a certain person who she firmly believes is out there somewhere. She strongly believes this person knows the truth about her.

To find a certain person and known more about who she is and her origins.

When I introduce Kali, she was just starting out as a High Knight. The various places she’s been is rather unknown at the moment, but she has been to a winter nation and another desert nation.

Magical wise, because Kali is a Gaian and Zirken, she has higher mana than most. Zirkens are known for wielding misting through spell books and other magical objects. Gaians have low mana, but it is still there. So, because Kali is a half-Gaian and half-Zirken, she is an oddity mainly because she has more Zirken powers and abilities.

Although, that is false because Kali is actually something else than a half-breed.

She’s great at hand to hand combat with or without a weapon. She is also a pretty good at making people laugh whether intentional or awkwardly.

Hello! I’m working on a series called The Dark Between Dreams Chronicles, and it’s about sword-weilding ghosts that fight monsters in the afterlife ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ (And yep, there is a ghost corgi involved in the second book ). It all takes place in a made-up afterlife realm.

Well in the specific ghost city that the series takes place in–which is called After–it’s a monarchy ruled by the founding ghost named Blackburne, and he’s revered as a god-king and he can pretty much do whatever he wants. There’s a sect of religious zeolats devoted to him, and they even perform ritual animalsacrifices in his name, which Blackburne is cool with. He also has an echelon of five lower-ranking ghosts that each head a specific facet of city life (ex: maintaining the wall that protects the city, collecting taxes, enforcing the law, etc.), and they also do whatever they want, including robbing merchants, stealing taxes for themselves, and kicking ghosts down into the Pit for fun. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Those would be the anchored ghosts. They’re ghosts that still have a strong connection to the realm of the living, and are able to summon portals to Earth. Unfortunately, ghosts can’t survive for very long on Earth. Usually, anchored ghosts either end up dying in the realm of the living, or losing their minds in the realm of the dead. Either way, they’re shunned by regular ghosts as freaks. There’s a cult of the called the Acolights that live in a tunnel system underground beneath After and they worship this afterlife’s version of the devil lol

I think murderers usually end up executed. For lesser crimes, ghosts are tossed into a Pit, which is an extremely deep dark hole in the ground. And then they’re left there forever

Questions for you! (You don’t have to answer all of them, and sorry if any of them have already been asked lol)

  • Which is the oldest species in your story and how did they come into existence?
  • If Pinti was going on a long journey but could only bring three things with her, what would she bring and why?
  • How did the Makiista, Prendai, Yajis, and Jurana Clans establish their territory borders and are there any rivalries between them?
  • Why are the kattaluna blue?
