Let’s say the book is from 200 to 400 pages long, maybe 500 if you are feeling adventurous. The book is engaging and your kind of genre and everything.
How long would you say it takes you to finish a good book in a matter of days? Like if the book is truly to your liking, but you don’t want to finish it so fast, do you pace yourself by reading other books as well? Do you try to muster up willpower and do it that way? Or it doesn’t matter how good the book is because you are a slow reader by default?
Tell me, truthfully, what are your thoughts and feelings?
NOTE: WHATEVER YOU PERSONALLY DEEM A GOOD BOOK THAT FORCES YOU TO READ IT NONSTOP IN ONE TO TWO DAYS, I WANT TO KNOW! AND I AM TALKING ABOUT BOOKS THAT ARE A SERIES, NOT STANDALONES!!!
The fastest book I ever read was a middle grade book in one day (with a single lunch break), which meant I could start on a new book that same day. A win for me, because of my extensive TBR It was The House with Chicken Legs by Sophie Anderson.
The faster the better, I would say, or as long as my concentration holds up. I could be really enjoying a book and then suddenly I’m tired and can’t concentrate on a single sentence.
I never pace myself if I’m on a reading roll though. I will read all day and all night. Don’t stop me now…cause I’m having such a good time… I used to be able to do this more when I was younger. These days, it’s a rare treat when it happens. I tend to be a slower reader these days, taking my time on each chapter and page. Idk why.
I’ve never tried to slow down when I’m loving a good book. If it’s wonderful all the way to the end, I can’t wait to start over and read it again from the beginning. (ღ˘ᴗ˘ღ)
When I first read this I thought: now why would I do that? Why stop? Who would ever?
lol
The only reason I might pick up other books is if my mood tells me, or it’s in another language. Sometimes I might have a Japanese book and English book going at the same time. That way I’m working through two TBRs
I feel like if I pick up a new English book while reading an English book, I’m betraying the first book. I want to finish one before I start the next if it’s the same language.
But there’s an exception. One single exception.
There’s this translated-to-Japanese book series I’m reading that was originally French I think. And it’s such a tragic heroine story with such wacky things happening that you wouldn’t believe (like vampiric letter-shaped aliens that suck your blood and color, turning you into paper, if you read the books or newspapers they inhabit). It’s just so much, I just have to put it down sometimes and take a break to read other books in the same language: Japanese, to take a breath XD
I have finished a book in a day recently, though I can’t remember which one it was, so yup! But that’s a very rare thing. Normally I have too much to do in a day to spend all day reading, even if I really love a book. Two days per book is pretty normal, though, for a book under 300 pages. (*^-‘) 乃
200? A day. 4-500? 2-3 days. I used to not stop myself but since I started getting migraines, I’ve had to go “no ‘one more chapter’ geez” I’m a really fast reader
I can’t finish books in a day any more cause I’ve got so much going on. Besides I tend to read at least two books at any one time. I don’t intentionally try to stop myself from finishing books quickly at all. But I like taking my time and working through an intricately written book.
It takes about four to seven days to read an average length book for me. Lately I’ve been reading door-stoppers so it’s taken me two weeks or more to read those. I haven’t read a series in a long time.
I think the last book I read in a day was Small Things Like These. It’s like 150 pages lol.
