When was the last time your main character's fears became their biggest motivator?

When was the last time something your main character has feared ended up being the thing that greatly motivated them? They’re still scared but they have to face it at some point and the fear has oddly been pushing them to face it.

Thoughts and feelings?

Yknow… I am currently churning out so many projects I can’t even remember half of them, but I think ‘months ago’? None of my current characters are particularly doing anything out of fear I think

Ah, that’s alright. Hopefully this thread will still be here for when you do.

Nope! Is something like that happening in your book? Sounds like an interesting idea. (*^-‘) 乃

My character’s motivated by fear – his fear of the death penalty – but it’s motivating him to avoid pain by not making waves.

Idk about the last time :stuck_out_tongue:

Cypur fears he would never amount to anything or be anybody, or worse, endanger people with his uncontrolled magick. The fear of the possibility of not amounting to anything or being a danger motivated him to go on a dangerous journey to prove himself.

And that’s his entire story. The entire novel almost :stuck_out_tongue:

Michael, from Alive At Dawn, is fifteen, but he’s already afraid of not being strong enough to be able to protect his little sister who has a disability. Her disability isn’t well understood in the world yet. Michael believes he has to be strong and tough for her. He’s also afraid of people who are in gangs or who fight in the streets. But he also wants to be like them. His fear of them motivates him to join a gang despite the fear.

I had another example, I’m sure, when I brought it up to you :stuck_out_tongue: I can’t remember now XD But here are two that came to me just now.
