Ah, understood.
No need to dive further.
Because itâs not what they want to hear. People want to believe that love can fix everything, but itâs not a fix-all. Itâs a wonderful thing, but thatâs not itâs purpose. It has its place and purpose, but love is not going to cure your depression if whatâs causing it is financial issues in a late capitalism hellscape, just as an example. People want an easy solution, and when you tell them it takes work, they will get mad at you and tell you that youâre wrong.
I have a few themes that I hate myself or that I roll my eyes to.
- Revenge is bad.
- Forgive and forget.
Themes are just plasters for tropes and cliches⌠Itâs what holds them together in all thisâŚ

Name me some.
Any you can think of?
Nice bloke find himself in a battle against an oppressive organisation⌠Good verses evil theme that holds together the tropes of what happens within said yarnâŚ
One exampleâŚ

You hate reading these types of themes? I can see how that is annoying. Do you try to avoid that as much as you can?
Got any more?
I donât hate them, but sometimes they are done so lame and without thoughtâŚ
SD
Nothing pisses me off quite like a badly-made power of love theme.
I prefer reading books that donât require having to worry about thinking about themes. I read for the story. Unless itâs a book Iâm teaching in which case I am contractually obligated to tear it to shreds
You just wanna shut your brain off to relax and unwind with a good funny book?
I donât blame you. LOL!
Or the power of friendship taken up fifteen notches.
I feel ya!
So sickly⌠âVomits loudly into the toilet with echo effects digitally added for corporate fiscal progress meetings.â

That is the visual of the words I used, minus the toilet⌠Spot on!

Pretty much
Understood.
The nobody girl is special and chosen and has an unusual mark on her body where all her magic is and itâs a big secret that only her mother, sister, bff knows, but god forbid her crush finds out! For some reason, he just canât and when things happen that reveal her power to him, she doesnât want to explain, so she says âitâs complicatedâ and then they fight because of the misunderstanding when she can just TELL HIM.
It can also be a guy with secret powers. Itâs just so complicated
I once almost wanted to throw a book across the room when I saw âitâs complicatedâ.
Love on the brain makes you a bit foolish. She/he needs to show their crush that she isnât some weirdo or something. They need their crush to know they are as normal as possible.
Sometimes this happens in a fantasy world
