Your Character's Culture - A Deep Dive For Writing

I love this hehe

Wait, so Hota does have parents? Or family in general? I literally never knew this lol.

I can tell you were sleepy because you did this :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.

A story of Dov’s ancestry could be titled as Cops and Robbers…And the Vikings were famous for being great mercenaries, explorers and traders (long-haired tourists who roughed up the locals)…

Yep. Do right by Dov and you need not question his loyalty. Betray Dov or harm his friends and, well, dig a large hole and jump in. It will spare Dov the extra work. Dov volunteered for a third combat tour in Afghanistan just to resolve personal unfinished business.

Crying over lost family or loved ones (or over fear for their safety) is considered fine and respected in commemorative silence by Dov. However, Dov rarely cries for any reason, and he will downplay or dismiss any instance of crying so as to not frighten or disturb his friends. Always the Commando ~ Krista.

The stories that are not classified, sure. I think Dov would be more open to narrating tales of his own combat failures (in a comical manner) than those of others, or at least seek to focus on the tales’ lessons and not who’s to blame.

He sounds like those murder hornets that hold a vendetta and wait outside for weeks to sting the human they want lol

Get him some of the good water . See if it will loosen his lips xD.

Heh, well Dov did qualify as a sniper during the Commando training. But Dov took a machine gun on his third tour. Dov wanted to get up close to the offending sods, and convey his immense displeasure in a clear and unmistakable manner.

:astonished:

Yeah ok so Hota lived with just their mom–no memory of their dad–for some years before living with their grandparents, and then winding up at a boarding school some time before they died–so when they were about sixteen.

awww! wait, so Hota’s mom is still around? :eyes:

Piggybacking a few more questions off me…

The Essence of U: older brother is the first mentioned to be at the end of college, and is used to contrast them.
A Riding Need: 2nd generation immigrant, in college herself, likely everyone else is blue collar working class.
Djinn Trap will likely reference future college because they are “upper-middle class kids with Gods in their ancestry”

Hoo, just posted an excerpt from Coins on a Battlefield to the Smut Dungeon for being a piece of culture that isn’t fit for children.
Djinn Trap mentions Debutant Balls and God’s Trials.
The King’s Three Sons is basically fairytales are traditions (which has been done before).
Wolf & X Bunny is about the contrast of having some culture in the Wolves and a fallen culture in the Bunnies, but I don’t get bogged in the details.

All over the place.
Djinn Trap, The King’s Three Sons, and Coins on a Battlefield has elites.
Wolf & X Bunny is rich kid of a commune is “mated to” trailer park trash.
The Essence of U is lower/middle income, except the friend he wants dead.
A Riding Need is middle income with otherworldly elites.
And Maysie’s Galaxy is post-Apocalyptic, so this concept is useless on it.

interesting… I wouldn’t want friends like that lol.

I wouldn’t want that friend. The only way I relate to the story, is I was sort of dating this guy in college, and towards the end I was in a state where I was willing to lie about any accidental kids, and just had a malevolent chip on my shoulder about anything to do with him.

So, I get the mindset without getting that far along.

I have returned to do my other character because I am bored :joy: So I shall do Xix this time

Terpolite

Urban - Xix lives in a castle

Xix’s family has been there since the beginning. She’s the last known living descendant of the First King and current Ruler of her homeworld Terpola.

Her family’s story is pretty sad. After they were chosen by the Gods to hold the power of Darkness, the power overtook most of them and they did some pretty terrible things. Xix is the only known person on record to not be corrupted by the power. The last person who was corrupted was her father

Xix didn’t go to college. She was homeschooled. Then some things happened that made her go into hiding

Xix doesn’t know any of her family’s traditions and she’s only just beginning to learn about her planet’s holidays

As the Queen, she is now the highest class. Xix now has a pretty good quality of life overall and is trying to improve the quality for her people

Mostly about her evil her family’s enemies are

Her family’s heroes are, well, her family. The bad guys were literally anyone else ;-;

Nothing, really. Xix didn’t have any contact with her family after going into hiding, and had even less after, uh, certain other events.

Pretty much everything is shunned. It’s a work in progress

Mostly the stories about the First King and a few other previous family members. I’m still working on the details

After, uh, certain events, Xix was taught to never show emotion because it brings punishment. With her new family and situation, she’s slowly coming back out of her shell

Before she became the authority figure, Xix was expected to always respect everyone above her, no matter how terrible they were or how terrible they treated her

No and no

Experience

Success must be reached at all costs

She’s still learning about family

Never fight back, always do as your told, and always destroy your enemy even if it destroys you

Not an option

It doesn’t exist and never will

I probably did this a long time ago, but I want to do it again, so I’m bumping it. Anyone with me?

These are really good questions.

Pinti’s family identifies as Kattaluna Race, Makiista Clan, Segnoshua family line.

Rural.

The Segnoshuas are a line of leaders which go all the way back to Makiisti Segnoshua who was the founder of Makiista Clan and a lordess-type position. Generations have passed since then.

There is no college :stuck_out_tongue:

Every autumn, Pinti’s little sister Tendri wants to make acorn necklaces, so everyone goes into the forest together as a family event. At least once a season.

It’s upper class. The clan must provide to the leader, so the leader can then divide and provide to the clan. Pinti must keep note of the rations of everything. Her family does live a lot better than the others. Pinti can easily get treats and specialty items for herself because she is the leader and has access. No one will say anything.

Pinti and Tendri both heard stories of Makiisti Segnoshua, the clan’s founder and their ancestor who served the Cheripian royals that ruled over all Kattalunae, and about the feline union that binded all the feline bipeds, and their last known allies, the Kaunlutha, who were lionkind bipeds.

Makiisti Segnoshua is considered the hero. Since she’s also the founder, the rest of the clan celebrate her as well. Idk if there are any bad guys or antiheroes. Depends on who you ask. Not everyone liked Pinti’s father Yon when he was the leader. Not everyone likes Pinti.

@DollyTH: So, do you count fictional cultures and races as well?
If so, then I have some and bit of an idea for a new character too.
