You're undercover, but the initiation is murder, what would you do?

So, let’s suppose that you are an undercover agent or cop tasked to uncover the nasty stuff an organization is doing. Fortunately, getting an invite into their organization was the easy part. Here comes the initiation, which you were not aware of. You have to kill someone in front of the crowd to be initiated. Refusal to kill someone may raise some eyebrows and might actually reveal your purpose there.
So, what would you do in this situation?
Kill or be killed?

Convince the person to play possum and get a trick knife or fake poison.

Follow the guidelines set in the rule book. There are lots and lots of rules that govern under cover work. A cop who don’t follow them will be in trouble and if they commit murder, it will be murder. There is actually a really good episode of Rookie that sheds light on that aspect. She is undercover cooking meth as a chemist, but she has to scramble when moving a cart around to not cross the boundary of the warehouse while not arising suspicions of the gang and staying planted. If they can’t work without compromising themselves, they are extracted.

…I feel like initiation as murder would not be a surprise to the person being given the mission, so they’d only take the mission if they could go through with it. If they accepted the mission, they’d be expected to kill someone.
