…not yet (and that’s sad).
I had one interview offer but it didn’t go anywhere. I seriously need to look out for referrals. I got told that with my speciality in AI, I can get a job before 5 years, but that most companies prefer a guy with 5 years of experience.
Either way I’ll be there in 1-1.5 years, but if I get one before that, that’ll be awesome.

I wonder if there’s a word for that sublime feeling you get when you ponder the universe as a whole. Does this happen to anyone else? I keep feeling this thin while watching Cosmos, staring at the stars, delving into prehistory, etc.
I even know what it happens, it’s because you feel like there’s something so vast, your problems are insignificant in front of it. But I don’t know what it’s called.

Here are the things that I’m thinking of:
- ResuRection (Robot’s Outro) by PPK does.
- I once saw an image of a barn with a comet above it, and it made me feel so. It did so even more when the comment said “a comet is rare, but with the whole universe in scale, a barn is rarer.”
- Carl Sagan’s “we are the children of the stars, we’re made of starstuff, we are a way for the cosmos to know itself”.
- Cosmos especially, including Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s sections. There’s a section he cries thinking of Carl Sagan, and that was emotional, even though he said nothing more than “Carl left me at the bus stop and said ‘if the bus doesn’t come, here’s my number, you come and stay at my home’.”
- There’s a Cosmos episode about how the stars are ghosts, because many of them may have already died by now, and we won’t know because light takes a long time to travel.
- An image of a child sitting in a grove, under a tree, watching a spaceship go over his head.

Also minor rant: today was weird at work.
I spent an hour trying to solve an issue. A flag (RepairDiagFlag) was not updating correctly. I flipped the switch in the UI that changes the value to Y, but the POST call kept sending repairDiagFlag: 'N' for some reason. So naturally I tried using console log to find the issue, only to get more confused because everything was working exactly as expected in the front-end. But for some reason the POST call was still sending ‘N’ for the attribute value.
Only after looping in another guy did I realise something: I was looking at the GET call, not the POST call. The POST call was sending repairDiagFlag: 'Y', as expected, but it wasn’t updating in the backend. Instead, the backend was returning repairDiagFlag: 'N' in the GET call!
Not been this embarrassed in two months. In my defence, one of the console log statements was also returning repairDiagFlag: 'N', so that was a red herring, and it threw me off course. I don’t know why that’s happening (likely runtime multithreading), but it just feels annoying.
(Just to conclude the story: Later I went to the backend and apparently the column was missing from PROCEDURE post_org. I didn’t work on this, my colleague did… or rather he didn’t, when he was supposed to.)
What a waste of sanity.

They only seem to like dark haired men because they look more mature. An author even got reviews stating that readers didn’t like how the male lead in her romance novel was blonde, when he is a NORWEIGAN pirate.
