Convenience. I always wake her up and it makes her miserable 
I’m always whacking her in my sleep, tossing and turning for hours on end, and even stole her blanket once in my sleep. I have no memory of it but I swear it happened. She complained about it for DAYS.
Also she’s a SUPER light sleeper and we have insanely different schedules. She’s not a morning person, but I am. So if I’m awake at like 9 and she wants to sleep until 12, she can’t. She wakes up and never sleeps again until 3 am.
I have met a lot of guys like Taven in my lifetime.

The colour purple is the colour of royalty only because it was too expensive for anyone else to afford.
Why?
It was made out of snails. For one large pot of dye, they had to gather tens of thousands of snails! It was hard and annoying and required so much time and effort and material that only the royalty could afford to pay for all of that It was only in in the 19th century that synthetic purple dye was invented, it it became mainstream. Otherwise, it was just too posh 
Also, that’s why flags don’t have purple, like, ever. It was too expensive to waste on a cloth that would inevitably be destroyed by wind and rain in 10 years.

Yesterday I was thinking I’d look good in a full-sleeve button-up shirt, but it was too hot to wear one (I do look good in it, though).
So that makes me wonder if it’s a similar situation in Europe or if it’s generally so cold that even in the height of summer you can wear 2-3 layers of clothes.

Well, it depends where and when you are.
In Ireland and the uk? Yes, fucking hell, I have a winter sweater and jeans when I step out in the summer usually. In the south of France? Maybe don’t do that
And also depending on the time you’re talking about in history. There was, at one point in the 15-17th centuries, a giant pandemic of STDs that changed fashion for the next 200 years lol.
I don’t guarantee the historical timing is accurate for each portrait, but it still proves the idea well.
