I cannot wait for it to flounder in development limbo for a decade before getting quietly cancelled. Because there is no way that an absolutely 100% adaptation of this book, and not just because the male lead is inhumanly attractive.
I will not be surprised if this is just an extremely expensive porno by the end.
I haven’t read it, but I am annoyed with people drawing comparisons between this and I Spit On Your Grave. Two very, very different things, and some people are saying I Spit On Your Grave didn’t get any pushback, so this shouldn’t… I Spit On Your Grave DID get considerable pushback (afaik, the remake it still banned in certain places).
I Spit On Your Grave isn’t a romance at all. From what I can see, people are drawing comparisons because both of them will have… disturbing scenes. But one of them is about how disgusting it is and how she gets her revenge, the other is… about… her falling in love with him? Not anywhere near the same, and I wish people would knock it off.
You should! I started reading it last night. I’m… 3? chapters in? One more mention of how uber goth and creepy her house is and I’m gonna throw my phone. I’m not saying this to be disrespectful whatsoever, but it is feeling awfully “My Immortal”. I have other thoughts that I don’t wish to share with the class, as they are mean.
It is Stalker Romance that tik tok likes and the entire plot is based on sex crimes. The author claims that the movie adaptation will have no cuts relating to the explicit content, but an announcement is extremely early in a movie’s development.
I see. Does it have any weird moments like the author not knowing how the internet works or weird dialogue that makes one think the author has never talked to another human?
