Touhou project released an rpg for mobile and I wish that more urban fantasy took Gensokoyo’s approach of essenitally being a place hidden from the rest of the world by magic. I’m just saying that a lot less people would think about how wizards could have prevented ww2 if all the wizards lived into what essentially amounts to a magical hidey-hole.

I noticed reads too lately. I am wondering if Wattpad tinkered with circulation a little to bring more active profiles to the top? I saw ranking update quite drastically. If so, it’s a good change.

I’ve mainly sketched chapter 4 of my main project. If I manage to finish it tomorrow to my satisfaction, I might work for a bit on chapter 2 of my unexpected project. No problems to speak of so far. There is about 5.5K in the main project and 2.3K in the second one.

Is it a bit of a tight squeeze to push a mystery into a novella format?

Not at all. I’ve read mysteries that were 1 page long in a magazine, since I was a kid. The difference is that in the longer the book, the more likely you are to accidentally give away the WhoDoneIt? before you reach the reveal because a novel needs a ton of filler, and that filler drops clues.

I have two stories that I could do for Cold Brew and his cousins, and I want to enter one of them into the ONC, but I think that the actual murder mystery part needs more planning. Like, to streamline it, but I could also do an introductory story introducing the main characters, and the possible threats as well and use the prompt “I had a good time ruining everything”.

Do what you must. You know, 2 related novellas can later become 1 50+ novel, as you integrate them in an edit.

Yeah, true. I think that my prequel (before the accident) will be easier to write for the ONC, and afterwards, I can just use clues; have a main A plot with Cev, and a B plot with Fabio for now.

Okay, guys. Submission Form is up!
I finished chapter 4 this morning and submitted my main project to the contest in Mystery/Thriller category. Fingers crossed. It’s slightly under 6K atm.
I also did my first outline revision, moving some plot beats and adding a couple of scenes. Again, nothing major, but I think it will do the storyline some good.
Now, going to stretch, clear my mind and see if I can do chapter 2 for my second project.

I spent the last few days trying to visualize my entry and what I should do to keep it short and simple. And today, I finally got some of Chapter 1 written! 
It was tough to write but I’m hoping it’ll be easier to get into now that I have it started. Already loving one of the characters, and she’s only been introduced for a paragraph or two now :'D

I’ve decided to try participating. I have 1k words. I’m kind of pantsing like I always do. I should probably… not do that, right? 
I have an issue writing “short” stories so I was thinking of trying to consider each chapter it’s own “episode” as part of the larger story?

Depends on how you divide up your story, really. I’m thinking aboout an episodic as my 4th test.

Oh-uh. I found a way to move forward, it’s fun and exciting, but it’s leading me on a different path, away from the prompt. This is what sucks about ONC. Sometimes a story takes shape inspired by the prompt but no longer resembles the prompt so it doesn’t count. Ugh. I hate having to curb good ideas in. There must be a way to salvage this.

Yup. I’m thinking of doing that instead of her running around, trying to survive until the reaper knocks-out their target.
It’s a shame, but at least it’s helping you out write something.
