Personal, personal opinion.
I’m incredibly sour about the decision of my own country, so I find that I’m not fully able to enjoy it. Sadly 
I also don’t really watch Olympics anyway 
Not even over the years. I’m not really into sports as it is. But I do listen to friends or parents talking about the results.
It’s really a lot of mixed feelings for me Nothing against the athletes, of course not. Just…well, you know, circumstances.

I DREAD writing the first sentence to story’s beginning chapter. I can never really make it work in my favor. It sucks.
Definitely the ending. I never want to say goodbye to my characters.

Neither. Hooks are shocking. Endings are thought provoking. I’ve got that in spades. It’s the filler that kills me (specifically points where I don’t have a plan and no ideas are popping).

But you already dumped them hence “ex-boyfriend or girlfriend”. You just didn’t know that your ex wrote a book that got published and made them successful.
Ah well, in that case, I’ll probably still love the book, hate the human. Really depends on the kind of book.

The first 3rd of a book, basically the first act, IS SO HARD FOR ME TO WRITE. I have to basically force myself because I hate the beginnings. Not hate as in “this is boring” but I just don’t like writing beginnings. Once I’ve gotten to the second third, I start picking up the pace and excitement. The ending is my favorite part to write.
I have a fun little questions for all authors and readers alike. Feel free to expand or leave your thoughts below as well. I’m curious to know what people think about this.
If an author were to have a character who shares their first name in a story, would you consider that to be something that turns you off?
(Keep in mind that the personality of the character is irrelevant. Maybe the author writer a totally different personality from their own, or they write a similar one. I just want to know a general answer first, then we can go into further discussion.)

I ask because finding books with characters named Monica isn’t so easy. I’ve never been able to read a book with a Monica before and I’d love to see my name used. (I had a whole phase when I was a young teen where I hated my name before learning to love it.)
Anyway, I was thinking of adding a side character named Monica to a novel, but making her different from me and keeping her separate from my own personality. But taking the very basic idea of a character having the authors name is a question I’ve wondered about, if people think thats self-inserting/okay or not.
I wouldn’t normally do it but I can’t just demand someone make me a character. Write what you wanna read, right?
One of my characters is named Stella, which is my nickname in the very first draft of the book I made her a self-insert, but then I realized what I was doing wasn’t good so in the rewrite I completely changed her personality and made her her own person. I didn’t want to change the name though because of the meaning. The name just stuck. So even though we still share the same name, we don’t share the same traits—for the most part.
I can imagine it might be like that for other writers too. They just happen to share a name with the character, but it doesn’t mean that the character is a self-insert.
On the other hand, it is possible to create a self-insert that doesn’t share the same name as you 
I think this is a good way to look at it. I don’t want another character like me. I have MANY characters, and they all have a part of me in them somehow but I like to make them all different and I ain’t looking for me in a book. I want my name. I can relate with characters elsewhere.
I just like to see that Monica’s are included in books, too. So I wanna add one.
But honestly, yes. I didn’t even think about that but even characters without your name can end up being a self-insert so the name doesn’t really hold much weight, other than looking pretty on a page and having meaning to the author in some way.
People get a ton of me through my characters, irrelevant of what they are names. You write what you know.
I mean, I’ve not been an ass up in here, but the way I write is assertive–you think I write a weak character?
That wouldn’t change if I named the person J. or Splunge.
I never read books with a character that has my name in it (not Enna). I don’t even like reading books written by authors that have the same name as me.
I’m probably weird XD Since I was four or five, I really had this thing against people or fictional characters that share my name. I don’t hate the person or the character, I just don’t like it when my name is mentioned for someone else.
But, I’m not one of those people who are super attached to their name either. I don’t think my name is special. I don’t hate my name. I just don’t like seeing it in public unless it has to do with school or academia

My name is not super common, but it appears enough to bug me when it does.
To add, I don’t feel like it’s particularly a self-insert. Unless the character shares some traits with me. But, in the end, I don’t care if people use the same name. I just won’t read it
You’d be surprised at how uncommon Monica is where I live. I’ve met very few Monica’s in my life, which explains why I rarely seen the name used in media or entertainment, too.
I feel like it’s just not a name people think about using anymore.
I had gone through this phase for years where I despised my name. I wanted to be named April, and I would always write myself as April in my early stories (back when all I wrote were self-insert stories for me and my friends).
Everyone else I wrote stories with used their real name but i never would. I don’t know exactly when it happened but I remember I started using my real name and eventually grew to really love it. I’ve had many customers tell me it’s a pretty name and you don’t see it much anymore. It’s not like Emily (super common). I have a friend who’s name is so uncommon that she will never find her name on any Keychains.
Anywho, enough of my rambling.
I just want to see more Monicas in stories because I feel like I’m forgotten, but I don’t have the right to tell people to name their characters Monica do I’m left with one option. Name one of my characters Monica. 
As for which story she’ll be in, I do not know. It’ll be a surprise I guess.
